Once you go touch, you can never go back. Not having it is just not an option. Given that using it is an option, I just don't get why non-touch is still offered.

Apparently not having it is an option since no Mac has a touch screen and is unlikely to gain one in the near future.

The very slight advantage of having one just isn't worth it. I have my iPad and iPhone for touch based computing. I'm fine with leaving my Mac out of it.

And if they would just add touch, the Mac would finally be a no brainer purchase again. For now I have Surface for all computing needs. The Mac used to be the best Windows machine, but now that takes touch.

Ever thought to yourself that you would enjoy trying out the worlds worst track pad? Look no further than the HP elite book Folio 1040 (and similar) if that number feels painful from taxes let me assure you it is no more pleasant with this device. It's so bad that HP has a pressure gauge on screen so you can see if you are pressing hard enough or not. It misses tracks constantly, adds extra clicks and missed clicks more often than not, and is generally the most unpleasant HID I have used to date. What I wouldn't give for this thing to have even an old school 1990's nub. Also the WiFi on it is flakey as all crap, they give you a button to enable/disable the wifi which is more than a convenience it is a necessity fairly often.
I just might throw this laptop out the window... Except work would just "break-fix" replace it with the same stupid model.

After the HP Folio 1040... I want nothing to do with a thin HP laptop. I don't care about thinner anymore, I care about capability, ease of use, battery life, quality of design, etc...

So what?

People who care about one thing and not the others, care about that thing and not the others. Does a racehorse jockey need to be interested in sports cars? Does a photographer need to be interested in knitting? I am not sure it matters... whatsoever. If you're happy riding a bike in London, do you care what kind of noodles someone's eating in China, that moment?

If you find that example bizarre, it was meant to express irrelevance - who cares what "the others" are using, when you are using the best. Tunnel vision is a great thing - helps one to focus. What the rest of the world does? Meh, don't care.
Logic fail there buddy.
How do you know you have the best if you’ve shown no interest in the others? You don’t how good or bad they are right?

Yeah Nope. Never gonna buy that one. Looks like a disaster. Although Im glad it doesn't have a touch screen. Having a touchscreen on a laptop seems plain retarded.
I'd like a touchscreen for being able to draw, that coupled with a 360deg hinge or twist 180, I'm sure Apple could do it, as they say can't innovate my ass...

Thinner is not the same as innovative. Thinner is doing the same as others but to a greater extent.

Apologies if someone already made this point. I couldn't face searching 30 pages of posts.

Winds me up just as much as companies claiming their products are revolutionary. They really aren't.

I do agree nothing is revolutionary cause if it was nobody would use it cause they would not know how. So its a marketing gimmick.

As far as the thickness or thinness goes it does take a lot of good engineering to make thing package. First of all it takes CPU manufacturer to make a proper chip that requires less cooling while still performing, it takes battery manufacturer to make a proper efficient battery in small size, same for GPU, same for hard drive, etc. Once all these are done by someone else then engineers in Apple, HP or whomever come together and put all that on board and wrap it into a package.

My question is how thin is enough? Same thin thing is getting ridiculous with phones as well, yeah they are getting thinner but they are far away from being ergonomic and not slipping out of your hand. Same with the laptop what in the hell you get in something as thin as this HP? Bragging rights that's all you get and maybe lightness but as we can see in Apple's case thing doesn't necessarily mean light.

One thing that is really outdated on Apple laptops is the weight that is not in ratio with performance and very heavy and fragile aluminum body.
