That 10$ extra to have that phone kinda pisses me off since ive been waiting for that phone forever. Hope there will be a cracked app for the hotspot sharing eventually because im getting my internet through my existing touch pro 2 that way

If the $10 bucks ticks you off wait till you find out the tethering costs you another $29.99 month but it's optional maybe theres an app for that to save the extra expense but I am not familiar with android I was looking forward to trading my pre in on this phone but $40 a month on top of the regular phone charges is kinda steep

There is talk that once the EVO is rooted, you will then have a free hotspot!

I will post info here when this becomes a fact.

are you trying to say that this rumor means only early adoptors will pay for wifi hotspot? i don't get the "rooted" part.

It allow you to install apps that aren't in the app store or reflash with a different/modded OS.

Sort of like jailbreaking an iPhone, only in the Android world.

Here's the tether software for root users: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/

Video of the first Evo getting rooted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilSNtLGNw2U

I was going to root my Nexus One, but the latest OS (Froyo-installed it Saturday) for it has WiFi tethering built in.

(I'd rather have an iPhone, but am very happy with my grandfathered TMobile plan...)
