I think HTC will try to go the middle of the road for their next flagship smartphone. I don't see them going to a 6 screen size for their flagship phone. Maybe later for as separate model though.

Agreed. I don't think they will go bigger than the M8 for the next flagship phone.

HTC - I applaud you!

5", 1080p -- THANK YOU
Improved camera
Snap 810

Now, all we need is for them to shrink the bezels. This company is listening. While everyone is going to 5.5" and ridiculous QHD screens, they are staying at 5" and possibly saving a ton of battery life. Damnit, HTC, take my money! I can't wait to get my hands on the M9!

5" 1080p is fantastic. No QHD nonsense. Snapdragon 810 is going to fly at that resolution.

Other specs are looking great as well, except! The RAM, I wish it was 4GB.

One thing for sure....HTC does listen to its customers. The evolution of the M7 and M8 and seemingly the M9. Along the way HTC added the options their customers wanted. SD Card faster UI great sound.....blew it on the camera. But they tried (failed) with the Ultra-Pixel thing. Rumor is they shrunk the bezels and removed the HTC logo from the screen. So they managed to keep the 5 inch screen while reducing the overall length of the phone. Can't wait!

That would perfect! That's exactly what I wanted for the M9! Everything is sounding good so far! I believe they were waiting until 2015 to come out with a smartwatch as well. Maybe M9 + a new smartwatch.

I have had some screen issues on my HTC phones too, but they are still the best music player I have had. Get the screen and camera squared away and they will have something.

Yep! I agree. I think HTC got it right this time. Yeah, the QHD is ridiculous. LG G3 battery suffered big time...the G2 battery was fantastic. Makes me wonder how much better the Note 4 battery could have been...even though its already good.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
I think it is supposed to 5 inches. but if you add the boom sound speakers...it might be a good size phone.

Yeap, that's the trouble with the HTC phones for me, the boom speakers add bezel to the ends.
But I would like to see what a compact version looks like. Just give it a 1080P 4.6" or 4.7" screen.

Anyway, I think the flagship phones being rumoured for next year are shaping up to be pretty good :)

Sony opened the way first with only 1080p and amazing battery life
Now HTC, please listen the market and make a real compact size phone of your flagship such as Z3 Compact
Boomshit, please remove it, everybody use earbuds or headset
We want slimmer bezels :p

I just hope they downsize that bezel while still pushing out top-tier speakers. Maybe take a cue from their specialty HTC Desire Eye phone and put in that dual 13 MP camera.

Oh...there is no way they are not making that screen more higher-def. Samsung, LG, and Motorola have already done it. They don't want to be falling the specs game.

Wouldn't have said no to an 8-10MP Ultrapixel camera. You get the low light plus the resolution. Part of the reason APple gets away with 8MP is because its enough pixels for 99% of use-cases and has impressive image quality.

But if HTC wanna go full-on 20MP then so be it.

I dont even see any difference between 720p and 1080p and those idiots would add 4k in near future

Reasonable size, reasonable resolution. Personally don't want qhd, or a large phone

The only pipe dream left is removable battery or waterproof without shafting the speakers

Htc, it's all great, get that camera right!

I'm pretty sure it will come with a 1080p screen. Don't expect the M9 go have a 1440p screen. :)

If you don't see a difference between 720p and 1080p on a 5" screen, your eyes are not the best I guess... With 4K resolution on a smartphone I agree with you, absolutely unnecessary.

I defitnetly see a difference between 720p % 1080p on a 5 inch screen. But i dont see any difference between 2K and 1080p

Hopefully it comes with a 1080p panel, going to Quad HD on LCD technology has diminishing returns and actually some qualities of the display get diminished like brightness and color production etc(see G3, withs its LCD quad HD display that has worse color reproduction and worse brightness and contrast then other competitors LCD displays like in the 6 plus and 6 and m8 and others due to quad HD resolution)

720p for my case its enough
I remember last year i bought a Macbok Air that doesnt have 1080p but my phone does lmao
I prefer higher resolution on bigger display, on phone, it would be pointless and do consume battery life

I certainly phrased that horribly. I mean an alternate version with a 6+ inch screen like they did with the Htc One Max or whatever it was called.

Nice render. I'm hopeful HTC will nail the aesthetics :)

Sort the camera out and this will likely be my android device of 2015.

This...... me too. I will get this on day 1 if they can get the camera figured out.
I guess we will find out on Tuesday.
