Another major flaw in your argument is that individual manufacturer added their own extensions to android before google incorporate them. e.g Samsung phones already have multi-window years before stock android. If multi-window is a major function you are dying for, then in effect a samsung with android v5 is equal to one with stock v7.

That assumes Samsung' implementation of that feature isn't crap.

Exactly why android is a hot, fragmented mess.

Before android N, there is no comparison as there were no other (major) phones that can do multi-window. Even now, Samsung multi-window implementation is still superior over stock android.

Why does it matters which android version you have since most new apps will work on all the versions > v5.0? From the users perspective there is little difference since most apps have been de-linked from underlying OS.

Apple's single software image for all phones has its merit but also some downside. Main issue is new updates may not be optimized for older hardware thus causing issues like slowdown and battery drain.

Each of us has a different priority. Your priority is multi-window, mine is native video and messaging and photo sharing sans-google; along with some others. That still doesn't negate the point that every android version does not support a lot of the features on ios, such as 3dt and live photos, which is why I postulate android is fragmented mess. Now don't move the goal posts and start exclaiming well these features are supported on the s8. Delinking the apps from the o/s doesn't give one the latest core security updates. Apps still require a some minimum o/s version in order to build the infrastructure on top of o/s supported apis.

But this is now far from the topic of Huawei.
