I'll be in Hong Kong next week and I'm sure I'll find the identical item. I'll report back when I do.

What is it you think you're going to find in Hong Kong, that the rest of us are unable to find on the Internet? If identical items were in fact available and being manufactured - larger companies would be able to utilize the same chipsets and we'd see a variety of USB-C / mDP docks on the market.

The fact that we don't see them means that the stable & reliable USB-C/mDP chipsets aren't available yet. Which is also the reason for Nonda cancelling their project. When that changes - we will all know.

I suspect that the Nonda Hub+ will be a good product when it is available. February seems awfully far away though!

Did you not read the rest of this thread? Honda Hub+ will not be available - it's been cancelled.

Hydradock or Microsoft display hub is the only ones so far and both are unreleased.

Microsoft dock is designed specifically for Lumina phones and will not support anything over 1080p. Not suitable for MacBooks. Hydradock is another example of vaporware, until they prove otherwise with a shipping product.

Just buy Apple Digital A/V adapter and stop waiting for things that don't exist and may not exist for a long time.

A lot of the stuff coming out of Asia is also just USB hubs with a USB C male connectors added, without a USB-C 3.1 hub controller (or 3 hub controllers,) to manage devices nothing can connect at greater than USB 2.0 data rates. Forget 5 Gb/sec. You will be at 12 Mb/sec. Computers with USB-C require a device ID handshake and a USB 3.1 compliant data cable to be capable of anything faster than USB 2.0 full speed data rates.

The Hydradock makers claims that Hub+ would never come to market look pretty prescient now.

https://hydradock.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders/project_updates#preorder-nav

Based on their updates on that page, I think the Hydradock will actually come to market, but I won't buy any electronics as a Kickstarter. I'd rather buy a funded product that exists than gamble on funding a product that may never be released and will probably be followed to market (if not preceded) by a host of competing options.

It`s the complexity of USB C, initially I am sure many thought that hubs etc. would be no more issue than previous iterations of the USB standard, however this is far from the case as USB C requires significant "logic" to fully function. To bring such a hub to market will require resources & experience, alternatively anyone can produce a box with USB 2.0 performance and a USB C male connector :)

No, it is not. Read it again. Along with these links. The have not abandoned the project, they have just hit a roadblock and can't meet their original production goals.

Uhm, yeah it is cancelled. The February 2016 "ship date" that they had on their website just a week ago? Gone now, entire product page replaced with an empty "sign up for updates" form. Kickstarter campaign? Cancelled, and all backers are getting automatic refunds.

However, you are free to believe whatever you want, and keep waiting for something that will never be.

You are putting your own biased spin on it. They can't meet their production timetable, which happens regularly with new product development, and they are being responsible by issuing refunds. They wouldn't have a sign-up form and offer early backers discounts if the project was cancelled. Would you please post a screen shot showing the word cancelled or that effect.

No, it's you who is letting your wishful thinking cloud the obvious facts. And do read what they say:

"If and when we do have a USB-C hub with USB 3.0 and mDP, we'll let you know"

"If and when we will have a product" is not a sign of them being unable "to meet production timetable". It's a sign of them being unable to make the product they envisioned, period.

They are not using the word "cancelled", as obviously they want to leave the possibilities open for themselves. But their original plans are in fact.. cancelled.

OWC, a long time Apple-centric retailer, has a USB-c hub they say will be available Nov 20 ,with pre-orders already an option.

But this Hub+ fiasco, and all the sub-standard HUBS i've seen already, has put the whammy on my expectations. I will wait for actual hardware reviews.

Is there an actual, currently for sale, readily available adapter to connect the rmb to hdmi port on a new 27" non-4000 monitor ASIDE from the $79 apple adapter?

Wow, you really have trouble comprehending things.. "There won't be a Nonda Hub+" is a bit different from "There will never be a USB-C hub"..

I think that there will be a Nonda Hub+. I just skimmed all of you many comments that you wrote about the Hub+ in multiple threads. Your lack of bias is really apparent.

Well, actually yes, you can use Google USB-C to HDMI adapter.. but obviously, with this, you won't be able to use the monitor and charge at the same time. You can also find a whole bunch of no-name USB-C/HDMI adapters on eBay, sold from China.

Why is it important to have non-Apple adapter anyway? Is it the cost?

Its the cost $80 and i hear it doesnt always work.

I have two A/V Digital adapters - they have been working just fine.

And I know everyone likes to complain about Apple's adapter prices.. But $79 is not an unreasonable price, given the cost of the early USB-C chipsets and engineering involved here (as evident by failure of startups like Nonda). Just look at the cost of Google USB-C to HDMI cable I linked to above - it's $40 bucks, and it doesn't even include USB-C/charging or USB 3.1 ports.

If a few bucks price difference is so important - take a gamble on no-name Chinese adapters that you will find on eBay. But it's not worth the hassle to me.

Well, two things:

1. I am over here to go to large industry trade shows and meet with electronic manufacturers so I get a sneak peek into what's coming that most don't get the opportunity to experience. Often I walk away with pre-production samples to try out.

2. I shop the local electronic markets in Hong Kong and China where some of this stuff gets out early.

Kickstarter phantoms and "the internet" isn't the same thing.
