On the 11th, same day as the iPad2 came out. My husband purchased an iPad1 for me at the discounted price. This is my first iPad and I'm loving the portability of it. My main uses will be Netflix, the web, and as a Kindle replacement. Other than a few simple games like Scrabble, I really don't for see myself needing all the bells and whistles.... So my question is...should I even consider keeping this iPad1 or would I be nuts not to upgrade to iPad2 while I'm still within my return period? The processor speed on the new iPad2 is about the only thing that gives me pause, as I don't care about the camera and such. Thanks

Netflix, web, and Kindle apps won't see improvements as a result of getting the iPad 2. Mainly games and having the camera, plus just the "feel" of a thinner device. I would recommend waiting for iPad 3 this time next year that will likely have a double screen resolution bump (quadruple the pixels) that will result in an iPhone 4 like "retina" screen which will allow for HD Netflix and even better smoother text in the web and Kindle apps which you use.

Your needs are pretty simple, which the ipad1 is good enough, i have an ipad1 and the upgrade wasn't enough for me, for what i use it for, (web browsing, reading pdf's, some simple games, watching tv shows)

Since the ipad1 fulfills your demands, you have to look at the non tech issue
..It was a gift, your husband probably figured he got a good deal, and the ipad1 was good enough for you, by returning it and upgraded to the ipad2, its not just about 100 dollars, its about the message your sending to your husband, maybe next time he wont be so fast to get you a nice gift like the ipad1.

In a year, you can sell it, lose just a little, from what he paid, no feelings are tarnished and then upgrade to the ipad3 if you feel after a year, you need additional features

It's all about if you need the extra features. For me, it wasn't the A5 that I really wanted, it was skype capabilities. Without it I wouldn't even have considered a tablet.

But that could happen to the ipad2 when the ipad3 comes out in a year. And so on and so on....

Considering what it will be used for, I don't think future upgrades will matter and by that point maybe they will get the ipad 4.

For what it will be used for I do not think trading in will do anything other than make the husband a little hurt that his gift wasn't good enough.

Nailed it. Even stuck the landing. ;)

Well said.
