This is the sort of behavior that has seriously pissed off a lot of developers. They're exploiting a bug in the app store. They'll get tons of downloads as free apps, then when they start charging again, they'll be at the top of the "most popular paid" list because they are paid apps with tons of downloads.

Apple should only count paid downloads for paid popularity. It's such an easy fix! (Or have they already fixed it? If so, apologies to Hudson.)

The links don't work!!

At least on the iPhone, the commission links are broken and won't open App Store.

Why do my copies have "Free Trial" badged on them?

Is this another one of those we're-giving-it-away-"free"-for-a-short-time-only-but-it's-not-really-free-because-it's-not-actually-the-same-program-we-just-tricked-you-into-downloading-a-demo things?

Well that is really stupid on Apple's part! I guess I'll have to fire up my laptop and download them.

this is a great little app. its fun, relaxing, creative and now free! i use it a lot just playing around with it.

I can vouch that Aqua Forest is addicting: think Warioware, except at about 2 FPS, heh.

The physics engine is pretty sweet, or it would be if it didn't slow to a ridiculous crawl whenever the sweet things started happening on screen. I'm looking forward to an update that will decrease the particle animations in favor of, oh, playability. Especially in the later levels in which you have to do 2-3 things at once, it's particularly ridiculous. I want to play it; but there's no point in even trying in this version.

Also, this is the first app to make my iTouch feel like I could cook bacon on it. Maybe not quite; but it was definitely becoming hot to the touch.

Also: branding much? In iTunes (but not on the device) the name of the app shows up as: "Aqua Forest - Powered By Octaveengine™ Casual"

Yes, I'm completely serious about the ™ they stuck in there.

I've been waiting for Aqua Forest to show up free. Then I tried to download all of these Hudson software titles and each click to download says "this application is being modified. Please try again later." Pretty annoying.

Aqua Forest is a complete waste of time - it's far too slow to be usable, and some of the physics is "questionable" to say the least.
Not impressed at all, even for free

None of those games are worth the price of admission. Even at free. Apparently the developer has very little idea of what the word "game" means.
