and you call one of them, it doesn't tell you which one you called. If you want to go back and identify which is which, unless you have them specifically labeled in detail you are guessing every time. Very irritating and a huge and sloppy oversight.

I'm talking about going through your call list to see which number you calledAll these years and and it has not caused me a problem.
We I dial it says: calling work or calling mobile on the screen.
Multipel??Mine does?
At least it shows if I used the mobile number or land line to my father. Its pretty much the only contact I have with "multipel" numbers.
I guess your scenario is many numbers labeled as work or mobile at the same time?

Multipel??
Still not that big of an issue for me.
What?and you call one of them, it doesn't tell you which one you called. If you want to go back and identify which is which, unless you have them specifically labeled in detail you are guessing every time. Very irritating and a huge and sloppy oversight.
That's how they appear in the recent calls sceeen. Not sure what the issue is.I think the OP means that he has a contact (or contacts) where every phone number is labeled "Work", or "Home", or whatever.
That's not a huge flaw...it's not even a flaw.and you call one of them, it doesn't tell you which one you called. If you want to go back and identify which is which, unless you have them specifically labeled in detail you are guessing every time. Very irritating and a huge and sloppy oversight.

If you look at the history of the poster the poster has been with iOS for quite a while. In any case, the issue that was brought up doesn't really seem to be one after all.Sounds like the OP has just switched from Android.
Right, if the labels are the same then it would show the same thing. What else would it be expected to show?Actually I second OP. I first noticed this issue because I have a colleague with two mobile numbers, and in his contract card they're listed as such, "mobile".
I found out that it's pretty much impossible to tell which number I have called or received call from because they both only get that label, not the number. Pressing "i" next to the entry doesn't help, I think it used to highlight the actual number in the contact card but not in iOS 9/10
[doublepost=1479613303][/doublepost]ofc you can "solve" it by assigning different labels, e.g. "mobile 1", "mobile 2".
Right, if the labels are the same then it would show the same thing. What else would it be expected to show?
Tapping "i" shows all numbers with their labels associated with the contact and the one that is in question is marked with "Recent" next to it.
It's not a huge flaw, e.g. I discovered it several months ago but didn't bother to do anything about it, I'm just pointing out that OP has the point. Also given that in previous versions of iOS it used to be like someone above described, press "I" and the actual number would be highlighted on the contact card. Why is this a huge flaw? Just add a different name to each number (home, work etc)
Just checked on a few entries from November 7th (my call history only goes that far at the moment) and the "Recent" identifier is correctly present for all of them. Not always the case with "Recent" label. Only shows if it really happened recently. I am now looking at my call history, entry from November 3, same dude with two "mobile"s, no Recent label next to any of his numbers.
Btw before anyone calls me stupid for not changing the labels, he has an iPhone and a third number for a few months now, that's why I couldn't be bothered, I always call "iPhone". Except for that time on Nov 3. I called one of his "mobile"s but now there's no telling which.
The only difference is that instead of being highlighted the number has the "Recent" identifier now. Seems like the logic is the same just different way to display it to the user. It's not a huge flaw, e.g. I discovered it several months ago but didn't bother to do anything about it, I'm just pointing out that OP has the point. Also given that in previous versions of iOS it used to be like someone above described, press "I" and the actual number would be highlighted on the contact card.

What is it that is expected aside from displaying the label that is associated with the number that is associated with the contact?I can confirm this issue has been present in all iOS versions since the iPhone 3GS. When you have multiple phone numbers for work, home etc it seems to get very confused. This usually means you have to manually update the contact details for every contact. All these years later and its still occurring - not acceptable.
