I tried the Hulu Live TV plan for a few months. Other than having current seasons of a couple of shows, it didn't seem worth $44 a month. So, I'm back to the commercial free basic plan, and the price 'drop' is fine by me. I have Netflix as well. Not really interested in having too many subs. Overall, it's still a lot cheaper than Spectrum's cable plans.

The new price doesn’t take effect until February 26th. Just Hulu being a bit deceptive as always.

We only have Netflix. If you buy into every streaming service, then yeah, that's going to suck.

Netflix lets me stream what I want to see, when I want, without commercials, in 4K. The cord will charge me extra for 1080p.

Netflix says they're going up to $16 and I just shrug. This is a non-issue.
True. And I'm a T-Mobile customer, so they pay for Netflix :D

Remember back when we were all saving money by cutting the cord... yeah, me either.

That must have been before my Internet provider (Cox) started charging $50 a month extra for unlimited Internet which used to be free. Also I have DIRECTV Now, HBO Go, Netflix, HULU, Amazon Prime and CBS All Access...

Waiting for new pricing to go into effect before I sign up. App still says $7.99

Netflix is a great option for many people, but a lot of people like certain shows or certain networks who don't have agreements with Netflix. Before long it's easy to imagine how all these piecemeal services add up to a cable bill.

This is by design because the studios are protecting their revenue. Just like in the post-contract wireless arena. Everyone I know is paying more than they were with 2 year contracts unless they switched to prepaid or kept their old phone.

Then much like any other scenario in which a budget is involved, people need to think very hard about what is important to them. Having 3-5 streaming services so they can blanket all of their programs, or take 1-2 and enjoy what they have, then maybe purchase hard or digital copies of the rest of their desired content on sales to get what they want eventually?

Sadly, this was never going to be a surprise problem. We knew that a streaming service's potential would be bottlenecked by its ability to acquire licenses. My guess is this is a big reason why Netflix is going hard on making original, high quality content.

That's funny with Apple bellyaching about Spotify because I'm trying the $5.99 Hulu and now I'll cancel that and create a new Spotify Pro account to get free Hulu for $4.00 more than what I was paying. Nice, you too late and too slow Apple.
