I will never support Hulu. Such a ripoff having to pay to watch shows that they broadcast for free over the air. Especially stupid that even after you pay you have to watch the same amount of ads. Screw you Hulu!

Same here. Tried it for less than 24hrs and then cancelled.

We are likely going to cancel once my wife finishes one of her shows. I find myself caring less and less about new TV programs. Usually the new TV programs that are actually smart or interesting end up getting cancelled because the general public is too dumb to appreciate them. The few that make it through I'll just catch later on Netflix or rent.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Netflix should negotiate an unlimited tier with all the major players. Basically the consumer pays $50-70/mo for unlimited access to every movie and TV show ever made, streamed on-demand in 1080p. Even make us sign a contract for a year or two, I don't care. It's still cheaper than most cable contracts and tons of people would sign up for it. Although anti-net neutrality rules would probably allow the cable companies to shut down such streaming services.

I'd gladly pay for that! I still have DirecTV but I wouldn't mind ditching it and just watching what i want to watch during the time I want to watch it. :p I always forget that such and such show is on a specific time etc etc.

The only way I could see it happening is if they limit it to content that is over one year old for TV shows, maybe up to two or three years old for movies. Even so I'd still sign up for it. I don't mind delayed gratification.

Errr... that's a terrible deal. We're paying $80/month for internet and cable through Comcast, and I think that's awful. I want $30/month for the internet service I have now, and I'd be willing to pay $20 or $30/month on top of that for the service you just described.

For unlimited access to the entire archive of all TV shows and movies ever made? They're not going to take us seriously until we're willing to pay. Most people pay upwards of $100-150 for cable TV. I thought I was being cheap! Basic cable can't compare either.

The concept of Family Sharing was a good one, but apps like Hulu Plus, etc. just work around that by providing content via IAP and subscriptions.

After much thought, I think we'll continue to use a common account for iTunes and the App Store and use separate iCloud accounts for everything else.

I watch shows on hulu plus a lot, but having to pay for it with tons of ads is obnoxious.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind paying twice as much if it got me either no ads at all or just one or two right at the top but that's it.

What really bugs me is this crap that the free stuff can't be watched on iPads etc

Just buy shows on iTunes

Many shows are available on iTunes with a season pass (except current seasons from premium channels like Showtime unfortunately). I have found that my total costs over a year are way less to just buy seasons of shows I want to watch rather than subscribing to cable. Plus it means absolutely no commercials (not even the disruption/distraction from having to skip through them if you DVR shows). It's a great option if you have an Apple TV. I just wish current season Showtime and HBO shows were available.

There are few shows I don't buy that are available to stream for free online (e.g., Daily Show). For these, I just deal with the commercials -- and airplay to Apple TV from my MacBook Air (works great and costs nothing).

Also, I pick up over the air broadcast -- so I get free live access to all the local channels (e.g., for news or just to turn on at times).

Our family has subscribed to Hulu Plus for more than 3 years now. Unfortunately here in Japan it's the only available choice. Netflix isn't here. Amazon Prime currently only covers free expedited shipping and Kindle Books, not music or video. So yeah, I'm pretty happy about the Hulu update.
