I see lawsuits coming …
I don't really think there is much basis for a suit. The company could also go bankrupt, in which case, who is there to sue? In thise case, they are aquired, probably indirectly.

but if they sold the pin in the EU, they warranty of 2 years applies to any IT product, making them liable.
Warranty isn't absolute; companies can go bankrupt and it doesn't cover services fully in the first place.

Seeing the difference on how it really worked (slow, wrong answers, bad input, useless) and how Imran Chaudhri presented it, you can say he is a scammer.

There are people like him that create garbage like that (concepts) that are not feasible but sounds good in theory, with the intention to find a buyer (sucker) from the beginning.

HP shareholders should be upset.

Did anyone actually buy this and use it, besides all the influencers that got it for free and hyped it (besides MKBHD who was honest in his review)
I received one soon after launch knowing I could return it. It was super finicky. It got really hot two days in and melted part of my jacket. Called support and demanded a refund. Glad this company is done

Probably the most cringe aspect of this entire product and company was their “wanna be Apple”, nauseating, full of themselves marketing videos

Maybe I am just old, because I see that younger generations actually seem to appreciate this shift. They tell me, But today you get updates! A product can improve over time.Maybe so, but beyond the fact that its usable lifespan is still far shorter than before, I think: the price of updates is eternal captivity.

Totally agree with your post.

I just wanted to defend younger folks in the sense that they just don’t know any different than how it has been of late.

When that is combined with powerful marketing, it’s a tough thing to fight against.

Imho they had some good ideas but were too early. And they didn't have the necessary financial planning for the endurance you need when creating early adopter hardware. Which they should have known, that’s nothing new. Also they came across as quite arrogant.

Who are you going to sue? What for? Don’t buy tech for what it may become lol
Well, on the MacRumors forums, that tech would be any Apple product. Almost the entire MacRumors forum crowd thinks Apple is lol, right?

I stopped being an HP customer well over 10 years ago and still feel being scr…ed by them.
Hasn't all been bad. I think Steve Jobs got one of his first gigs working for them.

Anyone who didn't see this buyout happening is a fool. The sheer existence of a minimum viable product was the tell. One day, you'll be instructed to place your open palm next to your HP printer. Amber text will be projected which reads, "Sorry, only HP branded toner is approved. Pinch fingers to subscribe."

One of the more cringe figures at Humane was Ken "wish I was Steve Jobs" Kocienda
The hubris of his interactions with even mildly skeptical folks was ... really something to behold

This was one of the biggest scams in the history of tech. The founders had nothing but a pitch deck and handwaving. No real plan, no real product they took their investors and rode off into the sunset with millions.

Agreed - in a sane world they'd be in major trouble

Instead, it's a resumé bullet point for them all

(it's part of why capital pulled in a favor from HP -- reputation salvaging up and down the line)

As a deaf person stuff like this is completely useless to me.

Wonder if we will ever know how many they actually sold.

An Apple Watch, for example, wont function after a decades, the battery will be non-replaceable, the software outdated and insecure, and it wont be compatible with new iPhones.

Mechanical watches for the win. You own it outright, there’s no software or battery, and with regular servicing it’ll last forever.

Couldn't agree more. I had an inkjet printer which when one of the colours was low, it would point blank refuse to print anything. Even if it was Cyan and I wanted to print B&W, it would refuse. It was infuriating and caused me big issues on multiple occasions. Their support desk had the audacity to claim it as a feature there to benefit customers!
