Samsung just got it's next advertising idea!

Buy our phones because no one will steal them on launch day. :D

That was epic!

While I can understand how this saddens people it is not as though they won't get what they paid for. It does suck though.

I hope they recorded the serial number of the phones to prevent anyone from activating them

That's the thing! Apple won't do a damn thing, carriers won't do a damn thing...

I've reported my brand new stolen iPhone to police, AT&T, Apple, even emailed Tim Cook just in case to found out I am out of luck. :(

Deactivating them now wouldn't affect the theif. Sorry, but even in the US you could ditch those on Craigslist in 2 seconds for cash.

Only person hurt is the sucker who buys it.

I fail to understand stealing an iPhone. It can be tracked and remotely disabled. Useless bit of aluminum, glass and such at that point. Apple needs to make a big deal about this so iCriminals get the point.

Where is said picture :D
Unrelated to the story, I had my iPhone 5 stolen today.
Was sitting in Starbucks with the phone on the table.

Was suddenly approached by a three of Romanian Gypsies, two men and a woman who waved newspapers at me. I told them to leave, they did. And the phone was missing.

I ran outside, and confronted the woman who just handed the phone back.

Then used the phone to take her picture. :)

I hate people who don't have the guts to actually work. GO TO WORK and buy your own stuff. Especially in 2 countries where you have a chance to educate yourself and find a job.

I'm impressed how you were able to identify their number and genders so quickly.

Surprised no one referenced the guy in China that was selling these. He said he "acquired" hundreds of iPhones and was having a courier bring them to him immediately.

lol.... nice...

i wonder how much press this got given the fact it was "on launch"

Any other day, and it wouldn't have been a huge deal.

The weirdest thing about this is.. I had the exact same dream last night.

Where is said picture :D
Here's Matt the manager, in hot pursuit. The two men headed off in another direction.

I'm shocked this happened in Japan, where the people are the most honest I've ever seen anywhere in the world.
A few years ago I had left my iphone 3g on a park bench at Ueno Park in Tokyo and I came back half an hour later and someone had moved to the side but no none had taken it.. And this was a very busy park!

If you read what the pundits had to say when the iPhone 5 was announced then those thieves are going to have a hard time fencing those boring iPhones.

/s

They won't have any issues selling those. If you think they will...well nuff' said.

So, wheres the picture ?

(Did they have to be newspapeps)?

This is turning to be like "Crime Stoppers ... Have you seen this man..."

Yep...

Eveytime my mate rides the train to work. Only a handle of Android phones, 99% are on iPhone.

A perfect robbers paridise.

Exactly! Get one of the many jobs where by you can then actually steal legally!!!

Really...

The thing is ... even if that store is out of stock people would still rather wait in line for days or find another store that sells the iPhone 5 instead of buying an S3.

Only the sad ones like the rest, who love being part of the Emperors clothes story... Floored less than beta apps, Damage, and if it's not damaged it will be body, unreliable Wi-Fi?

Give me decent kit that is unfashionable that just... Well to coin a Jobs phrase (god bless him) 'Just works!'

Long lines at Apple.... People do realise what their lining up for, don't they?

Its a iPhone, not a spring springsteen concert.

Do people have any idea, if they wait a few days, the lines will clear?

The guy at the O2 shop in London _did_ go to work. He even did overtime, going to work at 1.30 am in the night
