I was being facetious. Nobody cares about Dennis Ritchie, unfortunately. Steve Jobs, a grossly overrated 'pioneer' gets all the glory. Did Jobs ever write any code for Mac OS? What was his actual skill beyond management?

I don't think anybody would argue your point. Most people know and understand that SJ did very little with the tech side of Apple. I think that he had the ideas of what he wanted everything to look like (i.e. interface and hardware) and hired people to do the work to actually get it to come out the way he pictured. Steve Jobs should be remembered as an amazing visionary and business man and hopefully this is exactly what he is remembered for.

It's interesting that there must be some process to select a picture to immortalize a person—I wonder how they decide on what age to use. It seems particularly relevant because Jobs' appearance changed so much over a recent period of time, and his appearance toward the end of his life is now being made as iconic as the earlier images of him in suspenders holding an apple, with that gorgeous, shiny hair.

Yeah, nothing compared to building the foundation for *all* tech since the 70s and for the next DECADES.

You are exaggerating a bit. Until around 1985, all the Mac software was written in Pascal, and the Lisa software was written in an object-oriented version named Clascal. Borland's TurboPascal and Delphi were used everywhere. If C had never been created, we would have had Objective-Pascal, or we might be using Smalltalk instead, and Clascal and Delphi would have developed in the last 25 years as well.

Look, this stamp wasn't created to honour Steve Jobs. It was created to pull the money out of the pockets of people who happen to be stamp collectors and Steve Jobs fans, or just Steve Jobs fans. So I doubt that too much effort went into choosing a picture.
