If you should know, I do have OCD and I do know that it is quite different from how it is described in the form of memes (which was what I was referencing to in the previous post), thank you very much.

It is hard for me to believe that someone who has OCD would reference it in the way you did.

Being anal retentive is not the same thing as being OCD.

Self diagnosing oneself as OCD does not count as having the disorder.

The Difference Between Being Anal-Retentive And Having OCD

Do You Have OCD—or Are You Just Really Anal-Retentive?

You are welcome very much.

Why buy Hydradock when you can already buy a USB C hub from overseas?

This problem with the above hub is it doesn't have a power pass through.

Just think, if this hub from overseas is about $70 U.S, how can Jack charges $99-$139 for his dock? Buyer Beware!

If it sounds too good to be true, it is!

So if I have OCD I can't reference it in a humorous manner? What is bloody wrong with you?

I'm still confused. Your quote said you were obsessive-compulsive about the dock, but how are you obsessive compulsive about it. To me the entire sentiment doesn't makes sense... i'm not sure what you were trying to say originally.

Except... the adaptor you pointed out has less total ports, is missing mini displayport, lacks power passthrough, and looks like garbage. To me, the addition of those things is worth a premium. If it's not to you, the easiest fix is to not purchase.

You are missing the point. There is no way Jack can be making any money at the price he is asking.

I have been monitoring all the factories. He will have to be making a gigantic purchase to bring the cost down. Some of us are just trying to make sure people are not ripped off.

There are so many red flags about this guy that I can't believe people are throwing money away backing this project.

Based on people saying this is a scam and showing the history of Jack Campbell, I changed my backing to $0. Kinda makes me sad, as I'd love this device, but... I hate scams more than I love this device... so... yeah... sigh. I'm sure a comparable product will be released at some point.

That's quite the assumption in your part. By claiming that he is too OCD for the dock makes it pretty obvious that he doesn't know what he is talking about. If he he doesn't know what he is talking about we have no way to know what he is talking about.

You sound like you're a lot of fun at the parties.

I'd say - he's the very definition of "anal retentive".

OCD is often used to jokingly describe people with extreme perfectionist issues. In this case the ports are horizontally misaligned.

Lucky for you LandingZone is going to release a dock very similar to their MBP and MBA docks soon. Check out @LandingZoneDock on Twitter.

Real company shipping real products to real customers, with real experience doing what they do. Ticks more boxes, like locking and proper dock securing, and they don't need to go out on KickStarter to release a product.

And then there is this model. Has most of the ports but more appealing to me than the plastic case. http://www.yoobao.com/news.asp?id=245

Interesting, Yoobao is a legitimate company. They are known more for their batteries. From the pictures, it doesn't look like they have a working prototype. Thank you for the heads up!

Hydradock is way ahead of the game. ;) They have been working on this for the last 10 months. :p

BTW, from the pictures, Yoobao's Type-C dock looks exactly like Apple's USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter! I saw some knockoffs already appearing on Chinese websites. It is about half of what Apple is charging. Personally, when it comes to AV adapter, I still prefer buying from Apple.

They should have called it vapordock.

Even if this thing does get built ship I'd not buy it in a million years due to the man attached to this product and the fact that the product is hideous and obviously poorly made. You can tell just by looking at it.

They posted a pretty strong response in the comments of the Kickstarter.

I was particularly struck by their repeated reference to Jack as a team member when he is, in fact, the owner.

Jack needs to respond.

In any case, for $20 difference in price, I will wait to see what they deliver in June. Seems safer.

As more and more computers ship with USB C, I'd expect a lot of these type of docks to be available and commonplace.

Did anyone noticed they removed "Jack Campbell" as the creator and changed the name to "Kickshark"? They also deleted CE-Link as their partner and changed to a company called "Win Win".

Thought it was always called Kickshark. His picture still appears as the founder.

Yes, the company's name is called Kickshark, but the creator's name on the right hand side of the webpage was Jack Campbell. Now, they have changed the creator name to Kickshark. I guess they made the change because some of the negative comments made by backers.

Based on their previous history, I actually think they will deliver a dock, but if they do, it will be poorly made. When they made their CinemaView monitors, people complained about dust particles in the glass. It was a cheap monitor they imported from China. These guys are not engineers, they are just looking to make a quick buck by importing cheap Chinese made products as their own. I highly doubt they will make the June deadline. I have seen prototypes USB-C docks from overseas manufactures, but nothing with all the features that they are claiming. Even the Yoobao USB-C hub is not ready yet. These guys are just blowing smoke, even if they ended up finding a dock, it will take some time to get certification.

I don't think they will produce a dock that looks like their original renders at the price that was originally estimated. I called it at least three weeks ago (here) but, I guess some day we'll know for sure. ;)

Just because they don't smother the USB logo on a computer doesn't mean a company isn't complying with the standard... FYI

You should reply in the other thread as your response kind of isn't related to this thread, and I'm not sure if you understood the statements in the other thread.

edit: I see you posted in both, I'll move my response there.

Please change your location. Nobody from San Francisco would ever ever ever put their location as "San Fran"

I just want to know what these dozens and dozens of engineers have been eating for the last 10 months while designing this incredibly niche product.

If i equate dozens and dozens to a gross, this team is 44 members larger than the original Mac team.
