So with your HyperJuice chargers - if you have a normal USB device charging and fx an iPad - what happens when your normal USB device is close to full charge?

With my HyperJuice's (3x) they re-adjust their output - causing the power to the iPad to be disconnected for 30 seconds - and then reconnected. That makes the iPad BEEP for charger connected. It does the same on my Mac as well (power on/power off when one of the other devices are close to fully charged or absorb "little" current only)

So every time a device "needs" change - the HyperJuice disconnects all loads - and then reconnects them. That is a really stupid and damaging way to charge your devices. It can lead to early battery failure.

The only way the HyperJuice works "correctly" is if you ONLY connect 1 device at a time. Which is pointless on a 4 output charger.
That stinks, I’m sorry to hear that. I don’t have that charger, and the four port one I have doesn’t do that.

What would be nice is a hub that could draw power from the PC/Mac in a pinch if necessary (i.e. travel).
PC/Mac Thunderbolt ports usually only have 15W, not enough for additional Thunderbolt ports which will all need to support 15W. There are some Thunderbolt ports with 100W (such as from another dock or from a desktop with a Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 4 add-in card that has additional power input from the PSU).

Does exist already, I use one at the office and have one at home. I found them for around $90 online.
Belkin Thunderbolt 3 Core
That doesn't have any downstream Thunderbolt ports because there's not enough power from the upstream Thunderbolt port. Thunderbolt 4 docks/hubs have up to 3 downstream Thunderbolt ports.

single display? Can it do 4K 120?
Any idea why certain TB4 docks can support dual external 4k@60hz like the Sonnettech Echo 11 and Startech TB4CDOCK? Sure there is a big price difference, was wondering what component made the difference.
All Thunderbolt 4 docks/hubs should be able to do two 4K60 displays or one 4K120 display. Two 4K120 displays should be possible if the OS, GPU, and display all support DSC and can handle the pixels. Two 6K60 displays should also be possible with DSC (6K60 is slightly more bandwidth than 4K120). With Windows OS, a GPU that supports DSC and 4 displays, and two MST hubs that also support DSC, you could probably connect four 4K60 displays to a Thunderbolt 4 dock/hub.

I agree with davidjschloss. It should say „will … / to be available“, or „available in October“.
I think that anyone who actually reads the campaign before supporting it, or uses a site like Kickstarter in general, is aware. The project is available to back, not available to ship? Is that really misleading?

I’m dumb. What is the use case for this? Does it allow multiple computers to share one display?

Does it just add TB4 ports? I feel like between Apple computers and maybe monitors, there’s never a shortage of Thunderbolt.
One cable to a laptop. Two monitors out as well as a webcam or Ethernet adapter plugged in the dock/hub.

I hate having more than one cable plugged in my laptop when I’m working from my permanent desk. When I travel, I can deal with using more than one port on the laptop with a bunch a cables/dongles connected to it, but when I’m at my permanent work space, I want one cable connected to my laptop so that I can disconnect it, throw my laptop in a bag and leave. Same when I come back: all I need to connect is one cable. All my peripherals are connected to the dock/hub.

There are TB docks that provide different connectors such as USB, HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet and charging. This product only has TB ports so either you only use native TB and USB-C devices or you want to daisy chain adapters together.

This dock is EXACTLY what I need. I already have a similar dock from OWC. It has the same number of ports on it (plus one USB TYpe A). But I hate a huge external brick that comes with the OWC dock. This Hyper dock is brilliant for my use case. The benefit of this type of dock (without built in Ethernet port) is the fact that I can connect a Thunderbolt-based Ethernet adapter to it (instead of USB based Ethernet that comes in every Thunderbolt dock with built-in Ethernet). Additionally, I can connect a 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps Ethernet adapter, whereas docks with built-in Ethernet adapters come with 1 Gbps adapters.

I can also connect any two monitors I want - be They Thunderbolt-based, DisplayPort based or HDMI based. Yes, for DisplayPort or HDMI I need additional dongles plugged in to the Thunderbolt 4 ports on the dock, but so what? These dongles are permanently connected to the dock and to the monitors. It’s still a one-cable connection from the laptop to the dock. For me, a small Thunderbolt dock with 3 Thunderbolt 4 output ports is exactly what I need for my work - the most versatile, smallest, and least expensive solution.

I’ve been using Hyper products for years now. They are all well made, come in great packaging, and they all perform as advertised. Every one of them is innovative and ahead of the competition when it comes out, like this product.

I’ve never had one issue with any of Hyper products, and I use them quite often - some daily. I’ve been using their GaN charger for almost two years now daily, and it works perfectly, charging various devices simultaneously with no issues whatsoever. I also take it with me on every out-of-town trip I go.

All this hate toward Hyper is completely misplaced. Every one of their products I have I bought through Kickstarter or Indiegogo, and every one of them was delivered on time or with minimal delays.

In your specific experience sure. Again, mine came a few days ago and there’s hundreds of angry customers over the campaign we backed. Not trying to start a fight, I get the brand loyalty, and the products I got from them before were fine, but their PR has been a disaster. If you didn’t see the thread on the last one, check their Indiegogo comments thread here- literally just scroll. This was a disaster:

OWC would benefit greatly by producing a GaN 20V 5A adapter. Even a plug adapter would work, as there's plenty of GaN with those specs. It's just is type of product that needs the new tech.

update.

I came across these GaN adapters. they have all sorts of plug fitting for MANY laptops I'm thinking these just might work with the OWC. Of course they are $$$ (over $50US)

Do I want a hub that will often be boiling hot because it also features a power supply? Nope... (and for anyone saying GaN means it will run cool... doubtful from my own experience with USB GaN adapters.)

Yes this may be the case. But we shall see
