it only seems to be america winging about internet and mobile internet speeds. here in australia 45% of peoples home internet is 256kbps or SLOWER. about 20% is 512kbps, 20% between 512-1.5mbps and only about 15% getting 1.5mbps or greater. (source: australian bureau of statistics, sept 07). so maybe you should stop whining about slow downloads because thats faster than the majority of australias home internet and if we saw stuff downloading on your computers we'ed wet ourselevs by seeing how fast it is. it takes me about 2-3 hours to download 300MB of data and about 1.5-2 mins to download a song from itunes and it takes you guys like 3 seconds.

The band analogy is a good one.

People were looking forward to oasis's debut Definetly Maybe which was awesome but went bananas over the launch of the follow up What's The Story Morning Glory. Although a great album it's inferior to Definetly Maybe but sold about 10 times more.

That's what its like with iphone. They have inertia. The first iphone hasn't been riddled with reliabilty problems or bugs (quite incredible if you think how complex that multi touch screen is) and user surveys show over 90% or more are thrilled with them (these surveys always are conservative).

So people know how good it is and most of the World who are salivating in anticipation can't get their hands on one. Buying a jailbreaked iphone is a luxury for the few people who have more money than sense.

I agree if you already have an iphone you probably are more than content. But the hysteria is building in the rest of the world.

Its like Beatle Mania in the US. They heard about the Beatles in the UK but the mania went ballistic when they finally set foot in the states.

So iphone Mania is building...

Agree Aussie internet is rubbish
