What I don’t get is how they managed to get an approval to prioritise a new GUI. They do have other parts and a bit of a backlog of things that I would have considered more important to fix.

It’s not like the old GUI was bad and looked dated
But attention, bells, whistles, stocks. How are these things less important to you than an OS that works and feels great?

All of these complaints are normal. Apple made some changes. However, once the initial shock of change wears off, and you use the system for a while, everything that’s now new and scary will become normal. Give it some time.
I hope things like the micro stutters in Safari soon will not be normal anymore. It’s already been weeks and I’m very close to switch to a new browser until they fix them.

It’s great. This griping is just silly. I used 26 a few days, on the beta, and then today picked up a phone with latest version of 18 … it was immediately obvious that 18 was an older GUI for older hardware systems. And I liked 18. But I’m not going back. I wouldn’t mind if they changed some things in Safari, but these are minor complaints. Long live ios26!

I actually like the look of it, but some of the games I play are so choppy now I can’t stand it. Anyone know if that’s the games fault because they haven’t optimized for iOS 26? Or is this a bug in the iOS?

Another annoying thing is why would they put the location of your contact (where available) on top of your messages? Seems totally pointless and no obvious way to remove it, unless you hide contact photos (which I want, just not their location underneath it).

Just “up”graded my iPhone to iOS 26 and I absolutely hate it. It’s visually the ugliest iOS Apple has ever produced. The icons all have a distracting (and non-sensical) edge to them. The blurred wallpapers look nothing like they used to.

It’s so ugly I’m thinking of cancelling my iPhone Air order and looking at Samsung options.
Pretty sure as far as the Liquid Glass goes. You can turn that off in the settings

I didn't like it at first but you get used to it pretty soon. Smh they manage to make notifications visible and usable, they will tweak other stuff as well. Only thing I have is to speed up animations so it wont feel so heavy.

I really tried to love it. It actually started to grow on me over the months seeing it on screenshots and videos and I was getting a little tired of all the haters.

What can I say? It look like a cheap theme for winamp. Like comically bad. Not to speak of all the many many little bugs and inconsistencies, choppy animations all around. I just hope it gets improved somewhat. Until then I turned on "reduced transparency", changed the clock on the lockscreen and try to look beyond the rest.

Well that’s it I am done,
iOS 26 has tipped me over the edge.
I have been on and off with the beta testing and then I installed the final release last night and what a pile of crap !
Reduced transparency makes everything not work as they haven’t figured the concept of white text on a white background isn’t legible, reduce motion did not work too .
I am now back on iOS 18.6.2 but lost over 6000 photos because iCloud corrupted my phone backup:-(
So that’s it I am out I am just using my phone now as a basic phone just for news or whatever , I won’t be keeping an eye on tech news or anything anymore I will just become a basic person.
I recommend any one thinking of trying iOS 26 to stay away it will ruin your life !
I cannot believe the apple I loved has made me feel this way but here we are ….
I will still continue to use my iPhone as it does work now it’s back on iOS 18 but this whole situation has really changed me.

I do not mind iOS/iPadOS/WatchOS 26 so far.
Look and feel is ok, seems usable and I have no problems so far.

Starting a workout from watch seemed slightly better and UI seemed to make more sense.
I guess how to use multitasking on iPad is maybe not totally intuituve, but it works.

Feels a little retor in terms of ijcon design, but for me it is very usable. 🤷‍♂️

I assume it is because the app has not been updated yet for iOS26. Give it time and all the apps will likely get updated.
Most likely. That one good thing normally popular apps and sometimes even less popular/niche apps are updated for newer major versions of iOS in a few days or weeks.

The outlines are awful
Something that’ll make it instantly better:

• Press and hold the blue and white ‘F’ icon to the bottom right of your main grid
• A submenu will appear
• Tap the ‘Remove App’ menu item
• Tap the ‘Delete App’ menu item
• Tap the ‘Delete’ confirmation option

Your life will then improve immeasurably!

Absolutely loathe it as well, the animations are too long and bouncy, it's a fisher price OS built by non design people. The usability of iphones has instantly plummeted. The glass effect is so visually jarring and horrible... I'm very sad. I hate using this phone now, it's made it feel instantly slow. Accessibility options do not fix this. Seriously looking at the Pixel now, I have a work android device and iPhone personal device, Android is so much cleaner and snappier.

I'm willing to deal with all manner of crap for iOS 26 call screening.

That said, I'm liking it as a whole, along with Tahoe and iPadOS 26. Been running them all since beta 4 - give it some time.

Bye.

I dislike it as well. And the experience on my 13 Pro is terrible - all the animations run slower than iOS 18, and there is a sluggish feeling in how things perform
I have exactly the same experience on my 13 pro. Feels like I’m running in low power mode on 60 hz with a phone that is just about to die from low battery, all the time.
They really do their best to force us to upgrade.

Ppl please can you already calm down hating on it?

It looks 90% identical to iOS 18. Hating on icons?? C’mon, they are less contrasty, easier on eyes.

Apple should have went all-in instead and made it fully skeuomorphic, I imagine how many people would have been whining “where is my minimalism???” “This is end of Apple!!”. Right now Liquid Glass is unfinished and full of useless compromises. I hope in iOS 27 they would double down on it instead of listening to user opinions.

Smh when iOS 7 was rolled out I was in the minority of people who said it looks ugly. And I always wondered, for more than 12 years “how can people even like this abomination??”.

Can’t say 26 is revolutionary but at least BETTER than before, better than stale, outdated iPhone software UI design.

FYI if you are going Samsung, they have constantly been changing icons and looks all over these years, to the point of developing their unique style that both caters to people who love minimalism and at the same time doesn’t give you eye strain because of tons of contrast

I upgraded all my devices over the course of last evening and I like it.
I think things are going to settle in and the UI will be gradually tweaked.
It will sure take a while getting used to and some functions seem unnecessarily buried, but so far no bigger complaints.
The new OSes run stable even on my five-something year old iPad Pro.
I like the look of it, even though there are still some inconsistencies, especially with third-party apps.
On my wive‘s devices, I only upgraded to the most current versions of iOS and iPadOS 18, just to be sure. But I think, eventually she‘ll take the leap.
I am looking forward to see, where this will be going.

Why does double tap to type to Siri not work anymore? Is that intentional? It worked on 18.6.1 (iPhone 15 Pro Max)...
