Ummm... we've covered this before - it has 512 Mb soldered in and one empty socket for up to a 2 Gb module.

why be so haughty? maybe he doesnt comb through every single post. is that o.k.?

your a better MacRumors member...there, do you feel better?

Okay, using just plain out normal common sense, wouldn't one store their hd trailers in the same spot as everything else you look at in frontrow? and open it that way? Or are you streaming it from Apple's website?

Is it quiet? Have you ever used a previous imac g5? If so, can you compare the noise between the two. Nice mac BTW!!

The iMac is so easy to open. It is made that way, so you can do repairs yourself.

Nevertheless, what a beautiful machine you have!! Congratulations. Apple's stock pictures never show the beauty of their machines.

the little "nipples" beside the isight is the microphone (to the left) and a status light (to the right).

the noise is quiet from what i can hear right now.

yes, you can access all movie trailers from Front Row.

I read somewhere that the insides are completely redesigned, with 3 fans now for better cooling - and to keep noise down.

Glad to hear it!! Play an HD video file. If it does not sound like a plain is taking off, then they are quieter than the old ones.
:p

I read (sorry can't remember where) that this revision is actually not so easy to open up and service - which is troubling me slightly.

EDIT: Are you using those external speakers, or were they for your iBook. What are the built in speakers like?

i didnt notice a change in the sounds of the fans whatsoever when i played a 720p HD BBC Clip. :)

Very nice. :) I just ordered one for the wife today (online store). Now I kind of wish I would have dropped by the retail store to see if they had any in.

Pop the top!

I think everyone here would like to see you pop open the imac. You would be the first, like that new U2 song.
;)

I second that. Or it might be third that.
(Peer pressure at its finest...)

BTW, beautiful pictures! I'm having major iMac envy even though I just bought a new iBook a month ago.

question is ... can Front Row be pulled out of the Apps folder ?? or is it built in to the OS

I'd say it's built into the OS, the remote is IR (the receiver is the Apple logo) and thus wouldn't work with any other current Macs.

They could do it by bundling an IR dongle but that's pretty inelegant.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Front Row integrated into new Macs but none of the already released ones. Shame, but hey, can't have everything.
