No I never dropped it but when my mom does it sounds pretty nasty like a hard rock, unlike other laptops. I've also set it down on the hard surface from about 5 inches above and it sounds pretty bad, you can tell it's fragile.

Mine fell out of my bag from 3 feet onto cement and it worked a -ok and only got a small dent on the side.

Also, this has to be a troll thread. And setting a computer down would to be do it like a rational human being; set it down 1/4 or flush onto the surface, not half a foot. And plastic sounds better being thrown onto a surface rather than aluminum?

I'm hoping that the next redesign does away with the aluminum. I think they should switch to cast iron. Aluminum is a very weak metal, as is evident in the crushability of soda cans. Have you ever tried to crush a cast iron skillet? Won't happen.

I also figured out why the OP wanted the broken adapter back. I just did some testing and when you swing one of them around by the wire you can really crown someone with it. Since there was no one else around I tested it on myself and have a bump the size of an ostrich egg on the back of my skull.

DAMNIT!! I laughed so hard reading that I think I dislocated my liver.

Personally I laughed so hard I cried when I read that part... just the mental image, amazing.

Thank you... I do try!

I think I'm going to go to Whole Foods and get an actual ostrich egg today. I'll lie in wait for the college aged girl that lives around the corner with her parents . She often drives her crappy old Ford Escort down my 25mph street going about 50. I'll egg her with it, which will not only make a huge and disgusting mess, but will also probably knock the car on its side.

I know I'm coming into this thread kind of late..... But let me see if I can get caught up.

1. OP's power adapter stopped working. Based on his comments, I wold assume he dropped it, crushed the cord and/or it was old (it had to be at least a year old if it wasn't under warranty).
2. OP took it to Apple, rather than just looking on line to find the cheapest replacement online.
3. Apple, even though it wasn't under warranty, replaced it for him at a discount ($19) and only asked in return to keep his old one to refurbish.
4. Now the OP is all pissed off they didn't give him a discount AND let him keep his broken power adapter?

I'm seriously missing something here.... Seems like a heck of a deal to me. Also, I can guarantee you that there is very little chance that any electronics repair shop would be willing to fix it.

Even if they did, they would charge you at least an hours worth of labor which would run you $60 + parts so just call it a d@#$ push.

Yeah, you pretty much nailed it. What's missing is well... I can't say because I don't want to get another demerit.

The only thing you missed is that the OP also indirectly implied he was dropped as a baby by his mom.
