I often wonder about the effect having a female character in my avatar (especially before contributing). I think I've been called female at least once or twice.

It always seemed to me that Daria appealed more to men than women, but maybe someone unfamiliar with the show would be more inclined to think you were female because of it.

Maybe a the female symbol in your sig could confuse even more... ;)

But are you really hmmm? ;)

Do you have big hands and moustache because that's always a dead giveaway.

Just change your avatar to a picture of yourself.

The unicorn suggested above may not dissuade someone from assuming you're a male, as there seems to be a lot of members of MR who are gay. However, that's even less obvious, so go for whatever girly object, inanimate or animate (hint hint, rawr) you wish.

I'm straight and I think unicorns are hella awesome.

They bring rainbows and sunny days.

My friend told me so.

I've had to double check in your case... But that's because Daria's hot, and distracted me. Sure, she's no Wilma Flintstone (what a lady!), and perhaps her friend Jane is cuter... but Daria's got the glasses going on...

Umm.

*looks embarassed*

What were we talking about again?

That's not a unicorn. That be a horse with a tiny windmill on its head. You faker.

I stopped bothering to remind people about it... ooo, about 2-3 months after I joined up. Life's too short to worry about things like this.
Um...didn't the title demigoddess tip anyone off?

I think that you've correctly identified the problem: you post like a boy. No problem. With only a few subtle changes the confusion can be stopped....
LOL!

Well I've seen several posts from people thinking I'm female....
Of course my user name probably attributes to most of the confusion, I'm more of a straight up ***** than a bitch.

Then there's me. I'm a girl and I have a guy in my avatar (or rather, his abs, at the moment) Demi-god/goddesses: we are here to confuse you.

Giggling... like the girlie I am :p

And while being a demi-goddess helps, it was only a few months ago that I was being called 'he' by some veteran members.

ummm... did they think that "they" hadn't "dropped" and they'd just swollen beyond reason?????????? easy mistake to make, i guess.

Damn. I was hoping those were your abs so I could get some pointers. Haha :p

I actually got confused for a girl a day or two ago. That hasn't really ever happened here before. Perhaps they thought that only girls would care to monger baby ducks. Or is it that it's a baby duck that mongers other things? Or is it a baby that mongers ducks? Now I've gone and confused myself

I have to agree. I have a hard time with yours, max_altitude. Even though I know you're a guy, the avatar really throws me.

Re: I am female hear me roar!

My choice would be to hear you purr... ;)

Of course a lot of people keep confusing some of the male members with females ... without looking at your member pic, it would be hard to tell (still hard to tell even with some of the MR Member's pictures.)

On every single forum I'm a member of everyone thinks I'm a guy. At first I attributed it to celebrian so I dropped that moniker and no matter what I try I must be giving off male vibes. So I am here to say I am female. 100% female. I must act masculine online or something, because it never fails. I am not a guy!

It wasn't until recently that I saw a post attributing your gender as female. But until then, I assumed you were a guy, due to your avatar. To me, the avatar is a description of a person (more than the user name), summed up into one image. (Probably why I haven't made an avatar for myself yet). And the dragon, even thought it's the Welsh flag, "feels" like a masculine image. And as a previous poster mentioned, patriotism is usually associated with men, for some unknown reason. So that may play a part subliminally. And as Blue Velvet said, you could become a Demi-Goddess, I notice that almost immediately.

I always think of a pint of Guinness when I see your username. :D

There's a reason why women especially are reluctant to post pics here and this kind of attitude is part of it. The fact that almost every straight male went gaga when someone else put an attractive woman as their avatar didn't help matters either.

Of course I shouldn't talk, I have the second highest amount of pics of myself posted on here, even it was a long while before I posted even one.

Simple explanation for that. You can "talk football" better than most of the guys. :)
