I have had my AW Sport for more than four months and I think it's fantastic. You have to give it at least a couple of weeks to figure out how to get the most out of it. You may also decide that it just isn't for you. Personally I found that it exceeded my expectations (perhaps because early reviews were mostly negative reviews written by tech bloggers who didn't actually want a smartwatch to begin with). What do I like best about it? Silent notifications and information at a glance. I like that I get notified when I get a phone call, text message, reminder, etc. without having to hear my iPhone ding. I like that I can glance at the notification and decide whether or not I want to respond/act on it right away, snooze it for later, or dismiss it completely. I like that I can quickly check the time, my calendar, task list and weather forecast without digging my iPhone out of my bag or coat pocket. It's certainly a convenience device more than a necessity, but man does it add a lot of convenience for me! Little things that add up to a lot: Using "Hey Siri" to text or call my wife, set a timer, or set a reminder when my hands are full for example.

I did have to experiment with some third party apps to get my calendaring and reminders to work the way I like them to work, but on the whole I have decided that a smartwatch is not a great platform for lots of different kinds of apps. I have about 4 third party apps I use on a daily basis for calendar, reminders, weather and grocery list. I have other apps I find useful in certain situations, but not daily or even weekly. It's also great for tracking personal fitness, although there are some things I think my old Fitbit does a little better (and other things I think the Apple Watch does better).

I kind of wish I had gone for the stainless steel Apple Watch, but the Sport is still awfully nice looking IMO (I have the silver one). I bought a couple of third party leather bands to dress it up a little, although I do like the sport band as well.

I am still very impressed with the "stand" reminders for those who are in a more sedentary lifestyle and nowadays even Garmin offers this on some of their latest watches.
The stand reminders are sobering indeed. I'm fairly fit by now — certainly more than 6-7 years ago — and I'm still surprised by how easy it is to sit on my butt all day. When I abide by the reminders and get my blood moving again, I feel better.

I haven't tried it but I bet time travel lets you peek ahead or go further back to check out weather (within reasonable limits).
You can peek ahead 24 hours. It's regularly refreshed when the iPhone is within range, too, so when you go out of range or switch to airplane mode, the Time Travel weather data is good for 24 hours from the last sync (which is probably within a few minutes of being near the phone). Check how the weather complication on the bottom greyed out when I got near 24 hours ahead:

I think a lot of the people who end up not liking the watch probably weren't watch wearers to begin with. If you already wore a different watch before the Apple Watch then it's more likely you'll see value in it. After all, it automatically does just as much as whatever was on your wrist before........and much more.

I bought a SGS from Best Buy and tried it out for 40 days. I liked it so much I decided to return it and upgrade to the SS model. I was super careful with mine but still got a small scratch on the screen from a table at a restaurant. So definitely get the Apple Care and maybe even a screen protector.

I loved the notifications as well as the navigation when driving. I also really like being able to answer the phone from my watch when I am busy. I had a Fit Bit HR before the Apple Watch. The Fit Bit is way better at fitness tracking but the heart rate is pretty close. I got a rash from the Fit Bit clasp which caused me to stop using it. The only thing I really miss is the sleep tracking.

Good Luck with your purchase.

I think some who don't like it wanted more from it than it is intended. I for one love my watch and it's on my wrist 24/7. I use it mainly for notifications but that was my main point in buying it. I want those notifications on the go and I get alot of them.

I love the Apple Watch, but I still tend to go back to my Panerai's more often. He Apple Watch is great when I'm looking to have Descreet notifications without using my phone. I'm sure Apple Watch 2.0 will be much better with cell/wifi abilities and the use to run without the phone teathered. Plus I am ready for the FaceTime camera. My Apple friend states the Apple Watch will drop ton 199$ sport model in January to push them before the new version. Glwp

Sometimes its hard to tell if someone is serious or not. If your "Apple friend" was in a position to know anything about future Apple plans, he would not be stupid enough to risk his job and tell you. If you think Apple is going to drop the price on something to 50% that is selling more than the entire competition combined, you are dreaming. And speaking of dreaming... cell abilities and FaceTime cameras??? Apple typically drops the price on a current model (a little) when a new model is released, which I would guess won't be prior to mid to late next year.

It's reliable source that has lead me to know more than i should. As a 20k Apple shareholder ive been pretty accurate. I talking 199$ for the 38mm 249$ for 42mm. Time will tell and Apple Watch will launch in April 2016

LOL, I guess that answered the question about if you were making it up. Good luck with that.

We shall see. Not sure what I'am gaining by sharing this information. Guess I'll refrain in the future. Seems a lot of Apple doubters and pessimist on this forum. Think we're in 2 different leagues my friend.....but that's ok this forums needs all types of people. Any Apple stocks?

You've obviously never heard of insider trading. Your "Apple Friend" has just committed a Federal Felony by telling you this supposed information.

Your shareholding status has no relevance to what you think you know. Stop digging yourself into a hole. Anyone can say anything on a forum and try to make people believe it. Lucky guess more like. Unless you care to elaborate your confusing posts.
Oh yes, and ps. I've had £30,000 of Apple stock since 1998....but I don't claim it gives me any more info than someone owning none. You shouldn't either. 20k (or even 100k) is peanuts to the big guns at Apple.

I'm also going to give it a try. Been a fan of the watch since it was released, but with some offers online I was able to justify buying one.

I availed of the B&H offer online, should get it delivers in a few days.
I went with the sport 42mm model.

Finally something we agree on...that we are in two different leagues. I would never want to be remotely associated to what ever league you think you are in.
