I have a 256gb XS max and today I picked up a 512gb 11 pro.

I was tired of carrying a brick around and thought that the smaller phone would make things easier.

I have been playing with both today, and I keep going to the XS max to watch videos, browsing etc.

The 11 pro feels as if I went back two generations to the original X so it does not even feel as an upgrade.

On the other hand, it just fits in my jeans back pocket without dragging my jeans down because of the weight :). Also since the screen is smaller I may not use the phone as much which is a good thing!!!

I plan to keep this phone for at least 2 years this time around. I paid in full.

What would you do? Keep it or exchange it for a 11 pro max?

id get the pro max, clearly you prefer the larger size, and for 2 years why not go for what you really want, id exchange for max...my green pro max is pretty nice fyi :)

I went from XS Max to 11 Pro (non-Max) and overall I'm digging it, personally. No doubt the screen is taking some getting used to, and I'm not quite there yet, but in other areas this thing feels vastly superior. One-handing this device is far more doable than with my previous XS Max. I can access the whole screen without a bunch of shifting around stretching my thumb. Also it feels *so much better* in my pocket. I use a folio case which adds even more chunk and with my XS Max I was always pulling it out of my pocket and setting it on a table or my car's center console because it was a bit too chunky in the pocket, but with the smaller 11 Pro it more-or-less disappears in my pocket and is not as much of a nuisance.

That being said, when it comes to media consumption my previous XS Max reigns supreme. The bigger screen was significantly better for videos, web browsing, etc. In the end I'm happy with the 11 Pro because typically with media consumption I pull out my iPad Pro 10.5 and on the go my 11 Pro is definitely adequate.

I have a XS Max and yes it’s big and yes it’s heavy, but there’s no way I could go to a smaller sized screen. I’ll be getting the Pro Max this year, I can’t see myself being happier with a smaller size phone even though it would be easier to handle.

I had the 6 Plus when they first came out and I'm a woman and my hands are small. Soon after getting the phone i developed "clicking" in my thumbs ... the common name is "Trigger Thumb". I can't say for sure that it was caused by the large phone but it happened soon after getting it. Two rounds of cortisone shots in both thumbs has continued to keep it from happening and I switched to the smaller phones as soon as the 7 came out. I almost got the 11 max though as I have a Popsocket on my iPad Mini and it really keeps me from over-extending my thumbs.

I am in the same boat as you in regards to the phone size.

Went from an XS max to an 11 pro and it is definitely going to take some time to get used to the smaller screen. But damn this thing feels way better to hold.

plus having the smaller phone will hopefully encourage me to use my iPad Pro more

I bought the IPhone 11 pro because it was smaller. Yes I paid more but I do not want a BIG phone. I love the size.

I am going to keep the iphone 11 pro. with the pro max being even heavier than the xs max I would have to wear suspenders for my jeans to stay in place.

These over 40 eyes greatly appreciate the larger screen. The weight difference is minor.

I am well over 40. I wear glasses now so the size of the screen is moot. I can see whatever. I like to be able to put my phone in my pant pocket when running errands. I bought the 11 pro and paid extra because I do not want a bigger phone. To each his own.

You seem to be taking my comment a bit personally, not sure why. Choice is good.

My Pro Max does fit in my pocket, by the way.

I did not take your post personally. Because I wear glasses the smaller size phone is not an issue with me. I guess my issue is more with Apple. Why do they assume everyone wants a bigger phone? Why not give us choices? And why make the smaller phone more expensive?

As a person with small hands, I never even consider the Pro Max/Plus phones. Just waaaay too big to be practical to me. 5.8 on the regular Pro is more than enough!

I had a X and gave it to my wife. It’s too small for me. I got the Pro Max and love it. One thing I really like is reading my books on the Kindle app. The bigger screen just works for my needs. So I may be biased but I’d go with the Pro Max especially if you like a larger screen.

next to each other the Pro and Pro Max don’tseem to be that much of a difference but you can really tell when you see the screen.
