You have a right to get a full refund for your warranty and item within 14 days (or 30 days dependent on shop); so, just walk in and ask them to give you a refund - they have no choice but to accept and refund it; then you can buy it from a Apple Store, if you still want to.

Wait from best buy you can get a refund for their ****** warranty?

I could be wrong on this, but I think you can cancel it and get the difference prorated. It wouldn't be a full refund but it would be a refund for the amount of time between the refund and the end of the warranty.

Like I said though I could be way wrong on that.

I used to work for Best Buy awhile ago.

Also not everyone on Geek Squad is bad. Many of us used it as a stepping stone while in college to land corporate IT jobs out of college, and it worked for me and a few others I know.

oh no doubt. No one should generalize and say everyone here is bad. We should realize that many people at Best Buy, Geeksquad, McDonalds, etc..are students just trying to save up for something better. It's like this with any service industry.

My anger was directed solely at the manager and I was calm with everyone else, knowing they couldn't really do anything except follow procedures. At the store, the buck stopped somewhere and that was the manager.

I might be pants-on-head retarded, but I just realized I could still purchase Apple Care before 1 year is up. I will probably do that in mid September or so. Thanks for the replies guys. Gave me something to read LOL! :D

Best Buy?

best buy sucks. I can't stand the people that work at the one by me. Clueless idiots

I had an issue with my iMac after an Apple Update and Best Buy just swapped it out for new one in sealed box. 30 days to return for full refund, 45 if a Premier Rewards member. Also, no restocking fee ever. Just saying.

21.5 in iMac 2.5 GHz Intel Core I5
4 GB Mem-Wireless KB, M Mouse+T pad/
Newest iPad 64 GB 4G Verizon w/ BT KB/
Samsung Galaxy 7.1 in/
Hp Laptop. ( not turned on since iMac!)

I knew there was a reason Richard Schulze, founder and CEO of Best Buy, resigned from the Board yesterday and stated he may sell his 20.1% stake in the company for approximately $1.3 billion.

Maybe he knows something we don't?

Maybe he realized that $1.3 billion will probably be enough for him to eek out a retirement.

I know! If you asked what is the difference between these two laptops, they would have to read the card next to it and probably get someone else to help you...who guess what? Does not know either! Vicious cycle haha :D

That's pretty frustrating, I have to agree. It's really sort of the result of improper training though. I used to work at OfficeMax my first year of college and they did zero to train me. Not on the register, nothing. They just threw me in front of it as the only person in the front and told me to learn it as customers lined up. The horrible training videos that you had to watch actually just told you to look at the card if people ask questions about computers, printers, etc. I always felt sort of bad when I couldn't help people and I knew that they thought that I was an idiot, so I tried to get someone else who could help them better, who, as you said, more than likely wouldn't have anything beneficial to say either.

Might be? :D

You need to level set your expectations. Random shutoffs or other software issues are are not trivial to find. Apple is no different. If its obvious issue, then repair begins. Otherwise, have to diagnose. Having been in this industry for 20 years, I know how much time that can take.

Apple often has deep lines for service and the few times I have to use applecare I have had to negotiate how to service with them.

Example: replacement screen (dead pixles) may take 3-5 days so they want the laptop for 7. Um no...when part comes in, call me, then I bring my laptop and you put it in the queue as you need to. They didn't want to do that, but I *calmly* discussed this with them and someone else. Unless they were going to give me a loaner laptop, I needed to maximize the time I had my laptop for my job.

We worked it out. Calmly.

If you can, I would cancel the warranty and buy AC (B&H often has good pricing). Given the choice of BB or Applestore, I feel Apple has a better process for issues. In both cases, you will need to be a bit more considerate with dealing with the clerks.

This is why you buy Apple products from the Apple store. Best Buy sucks. (Even though I'm in the UK :D)

I would buy from the Apple store if they didn't charge sales tax. No way I'm letting the communist California government steal more of my money than they already do.

It's either PowerMax or Amazon for me.

Yeah but if you think about it in a different way, you're paying for excellent customer support.

Good thread....
I just bought a mid 2009 White MacBook (13") for $250... :)

Will be buying a 21.5 iMac soon to replace my Cow PC...
I may go the refurbished route as I can save 200 bucks & get the year warranty & then purchase Apple Care later...

Well, If I was hired by best buy, as a student, I would try to learn as much crap about the computers as I could. Being on the forums here for 3 weeks has taught me more than 5 years waiting for a problem to arise with my mac..

I'm glad we don't have best buy over here but unfortunately we do have the dixons chain stores which are equally as bad ;)

Best buy have already taken Thier 11 stores out of the UK because of thier poor earnings

And this is also the reason Steve invented the apple store.. To overcome the crappy service of other mac sellers, and sometime shortly apple will have to block sales of thier macs in best buy because of thier **** sales...

If anything, I would rather work in the apple store IMO

Hm, didn't think about it that way. But does it really matter WHERE I buy my AppleCare?

I'm not talking about AppleCare, I'm talking about the general awesomeness of how Apple treat you. Whether it's in a retail store or online, they know their customers, and they know how to treat them.
