SDub, how do I get my UDID...I can't get in my phone because it locked...it justs says iPhone with a grey background..I can get my IMEI and ICCID...will those work?

Well, you are going to have to try to roll the phone back if you didn't write the number down.

Warned ya!

Nope. It's a different platform and you learn by asking or searching.

The two have nothing to do with each other.

The guy is asking step by step how to register his phone and extract a DMG.

Yu know, a RAR file is mostly a windows thing and if you asked me how to extract it and I didn't know, I would type, "how to extract a RAR file in google. We just get really sick of people asking about the beta who obviously shouldn't be using it.

If you hook it up to itunes, does it go to the iPhone window? where it says serial number, if you click on "serial number" it'll change to Identifier (UDID): with 40 characters. Thats what you need to do before you install the beta. If it doesn't work, i don't know. If you put in the right thing, how long has it been? It usually takes a day to show up.

Just in case this problem is still open ....

For getting your uuid, use http://support.apple.com/kb/dl926 and just connect your iPhone

And your first line says u r a Dev at apple ... That would mean u have access to adding this uuid to iOS provisioning portal ... If you are just registered as free member then hard luck and you should not have tried this

I have a question for you...

I have a buddy with a Mac, if I go over to his house and use his Mac to install iOS 5 beta (and it works) will I be able to bring it back to my house and hook it up to my PC without losing iOS 5???

If I won't lose iOS 5, I could definitely go that way.

Since developing for Mac and iPhone can only be done on a Mac, so the betas are only *officially* available on a Mac. I'm surprised they even offer iTunes 10.5 betas for PC, but you claim to have one, and I don't doubt you. So long as you have iTunes 10.5 on your PC, updating to iOS 5 on your friends Mac will be fine.

do you just enjoy giving apple extra money? it really doesn't seem you need a dev account. I could be wrong here but I was under the impression with iOS dev you needed to be using a mac therefore you would not be having this issue.

Yes, I am a paid developer and yes now as I look back on it I did waste 99 dollars...however, I did put a lot of peoples UDID's in the provisioning center. I'm still willing too. I have like 92 slots left.

This is what's wrong with this forum, you come here for "HELP" and all you get is a bunch of crap on how you shouldn't be doing this or that or your idea is stupid blah blah blah (thank you to the people who didn't act like that and actually helped me.) I always try and help people when they have questions asked in the forums and if I can't I try to refer them to a source that can help them.

I have learned my lesson though, I'm not trying iOS 5 again until it's officially released!!!

You do realize that if Apple catches on to what you are doing (giving out iOS5) that can and will shut down your account turning all those phones into paper weights.

I'm not saying this to get flamed, but guys, let's give him a break. From the looks of it, anyone can pay $99(not being a smart ass) and get a dev account. He did this, so technically he is ok with loading up the betas. I'm not, I've just had my udid registered, and I've ran all the beta's. I have also ran into several problems, and have fixed them. If u still want to try the beta, they are stable enough for basic things, web browsing, photos, other stuff, etc. So, if u want them, follow the directions to a T, and you will get it right.

Go get your iPhone box and look behind the box to find the IMEI and ICCID at the bottom.

It is ok on his device but now he has admitted that he loaded others on his account which is a violation of the TOS. He couldn't even get his device loaded which means he has no business even trying.

I have no problems with people paying $99 to play with beta, I think it is a waste of their money but it is their money, but don't come here when things go horribly wrong. Just a week or two ago people had their phones cut off because they were illegally using the software. Personally I hope apple tightens down on this and knocks more people off of it.

Depends who pays the $99 per year. Devs require having to get the betas to make sure there apps would work in iOS 5, and some consumers may want to test out the stability of the OS. For basic users who simply want the OS with no problem, you wait for the September release, like you would.

I agree, but as long as Apple allows anyone to register, this will continue.
