If one waited for what's new out around the corner, then one wouldn't end up making a purchase at all !

With not knowing what the new iPhone will look like aesthetically, and what will defiantly be under its hood I can only comment that the iPhone 4 and 4s ticks my boxes.

If you wait and don't end up being taken by the next iPhone you can always fall back on the 4s or indeed another manufacturers cellphone.

we're not talking about waiting 3 or 4 months...we are talking about 3-4 weeks....anyone with a brain would wait.

I really enjoy using iOS and Apple products, and though I've owned iPods for years and two of the 3 iPads, I've never had an iPhone.

Because most of you use iPhones and know better than me, my question is - should I wait for the new iPhone? Do you think it will be worth it, based on what is known so far? I have my eye on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 but I don't want to commit to that until I had some second opinions, if you could help me out.

I know they say good things will come if you wait, and I'm just interesting in seeing what some of you have to say. Thanks so much :)

You'll be rewarded if you wait. It's only 1 and a half months away!! It's going to be special.

Also as a fellow Verizon customer you may want to review your current plan vs the one they will be forcing you too once you subsidize your next phone purchase.

For God sakes. Make decision on your own!! Must there be one of these thtReads for every f'n release. Some of you are so simple it's no wonder the world is in the shape it's in.

We get a lot of these "What should I do" posts, and possibly they are from individuals that are too young to make a decision on their own, are still at home with Mommy, that they are in need of hand holding. ;) You are right BHP41, for goodness sakes, make up your own mind.

It amazes me how so many people here don't have preferences or any kind of perspective into what they want. Always asking if they should buy something.

How are people getting to a 3-4 weeks release date. What source has confirmed this ?

I and thousands of others eagerly awaiting the release of the next iPhone would be grateful for the link to be posted !

Guys, I apologize if I annoyed you with this thread. As someone who hasn't actively contributed here for a long length of time, I appreciate the legitimate, helpful answers many of you have given as opposed to the whining about "there's already a thread like this" or "make up your own mind" or "why can't you just make a decision on your own for goodness's sake". That's not what I was looking for and I'm sure you wouldn't be either if you asked the same question. I just thought I could get some other opinions from those who have and know iPhones unlike myself.

Again, sorry if I bothered you, or if this was asked before. I didn't know.

I've been able to upgrade since March and have been off contract for about a month. I thought about the SIII, but I'm waiting until next month to see what the next iPhone has.

Of course there are a lot of these forum topics, there are a lot of people who are unsure, and this translates to drop in iPhone sales in the last quarter.

I have a Galaxy S3 and also a iPhone 4S, I am selling my 4S. My recommendation would be to wait for the new iPhone and compare it with the S3. i am hoping that Apple come out with a wonder phone.

It doesn't have anything to do with being new to this forum. What it has to do with is talking it upon ones self to do the research and come to a conclusion on what's best for them.

To me, if I may put myself in your shoes; there are two logical conclusions.
1- You can't wait for a new phone and you want one when you're able to upgrade. This puts you in the position, since your contract is up in two days to phones only that are available right now. You said you where looking at the S3 buy you are familiar with iOS(4S). Here's my opinion. Go to the store and play with both for a few minutes. Take one home. If you don't like it, take it back within the allotted time to return the phone and get the other one.

2- You've decided that you've been without a new phone for this long, another 5-8 weeks isn't going to kill you since your device is still working. You know that the new iPhone is going to come out and you don't want to be left wishing you had waited. WAIT. Then proceed to the last sentence of the previous paragraph.

90% of us on here are more than willing to provide opinions and answers to questions that we think are elementary but understand that we were once in the same spot. We also understand that there just seem to be people that come and post a question such as this one, that HAS been answered respectfully by others numerous, numerous times. We have grown tired of it, we have grown tired of holding someones hand telling them how THEY should spend THEIR money.

I nor any member here that has agreed with my OP is here to do anything but help you. Posting the same question that has two logical answers is a bit annoying. Especially since they have been answered multiple times.

I hope this helps you. I know you will make the right decision for yourself.

WAIT. If Sept. 7th. holds true it's only a month away. Think of it that way. If by then, you don't hear anything, then you really have four more weeks from that date - baby steps.

According to all the rumours it's actually September 12th. This would make sense as it is a Wednesday which is the day they always announce new iPhones and iPads.

Please don't feel like you have to apologise as a question is only stupid if it's not asked in the first place !

Yes you can search the forum for similar posed questions but these are not specific to you.

I trust you've found some resolution and will act upon the information you have gained.

I am waiting as well, if the next iPhone isn't a phone I am going to be interested in, then I will explore my options then :). It is only a couple months more away, and my iPhone 4 is working fine for the time being.

I think the point of those saying make up your mind is we WOULDN'T ask those questions as we make up our minds on our own with the information we have about our own situations.
How can any one know what's best for you? You want a new phone now, buy one now. You want to wait for the next iPhone before making a decision, wait. I don't know how much you have to spend, how much you can afford a month for payment of a plan, which provider you want, how the reception is in your area ect ect. See what I mean? There are so many factors when making an up to $800+ decision that is personal that you did not give us. So any suggestion would be an ignorant suggestion. I'm assuming you're an adult or close to it if you're buying an expensive device (on your own I assume) so you should be able to decide it on your own.
When going to buy a new car do you ask people what you should buy? A house, hair cut, shoes, clothes?

Please don't feel like you have to apologise as a question is only stupid if it's not asked in the first place !

A questioned not asked is merely a thought, it can not be publicly criticized for being stupid or smart.

I think what you're trying to say is that, A question is not stupid if one doesn't know the answer. ;)

Not release, announcement. Once the phone is announced, one can be pretty well informed of whether it is of general interest or not.

i would never wait for a new phone that is a month away from being released. BUY NOW :D

What cellphone are you using today?
I will wait for the new model anyway.
Buy a unlocked and broken iPhone 4S, repair it yourself or get it replaced at the Apple store for $149. When the new iPhone comes out get it with the carrier discount. Keep the unlocked 4S as a spare phone, or sell it.
