If you were a "business owner", then you wouldn't have grammar similar to a 12 year old. Besides that I do hope your situation gets corrected.

It's not that I don't believe you. It's just first you said your 21, and later on you went to say your a business man. Then again, that's not so unbelievable either in these modern times.

Anyhow, contact sjobs@apple.com with a detailed account of your issue. I'd recommend using proper grammar and sentence structure in that email though. Best of luck :)

People people of these forums i typed this thread from my iphone, sorry to inconvenience all of you.

As for "21" and "Business man" i simply was classifying my ebay store, .com site and all of my school work. Thus meaning business (busy) thats all, no need to get all worked up!

There is really no point to judging, these are forums and i was in a tight spot, so i started a thread with my iphone regarding my macbook in a dedicated MACBOOK Thread.

All these implications about grammar and spelling, why for what!

Seriously guys are we not all using these forms for guidance and information, not slander and grammar school

If there was a match, I'd think the sulfur smell would have been noticeable when it was hot enough to leave a black mark. Maybe there was a piece of paper caught inside that blocked/broke the fan, caused the overheat, and now looks like a match.

Makes you wonder what the genius was laughing about.

well i believe the case is under control, i talked with a specialist about safety issues, what happened during the event of the overheat and burning. i asked apple customer relations to speak with my lawyer and make the case go much faster as i know i am not at fault its simple a manufactures defect.

Apple is by far my favorite company i use mobile me to operate a small business and i love to learn development skills for the OS.

i just hate how this is going.

They are ****ing with me.
Telling me they were going to send it to a engineer and have it classified as a
Hardware damage. Then they said they would issue me a new machiene. Well turns out they Are saying now it already go looked at and classiflied as Ccidental damage.
So I am demand a re examination by a real engineer At corprate. Or a lawsuit against apple for a replacement.
How do I reach the headquarer and talk with a manager or some one high up
Any ideas.

Please no humor or jokes this is really getting to my guys and taking up my time talking with apple when I am at a birthing class with my wife.

There's not much we can do. Did you try emailing the email address I specified in my post 2 posts above? I'd do that right now.

Awhile ago I wrote a post complaining about Apple's removal of video adapters and the use of semi-proprietary connectors.

Weren't you the one who was saying that people shouldn't complain about the way Apple chooses to operate?? Weren't you the one who said that corporations do extensive evaluations regarding policy decisions and arrive at logical decisions but that others lack the business acumen to understand them?? Weren't you the one who said that if you don't like the way Apple treats you, move on??

Well Mr. Pro Business and Pro Apple, karma can be a bitch. I don't wish you any ill but if all this mess is taking hours and hours out of your life and you have much more important things to do (like attending school, running your business, and taking care of your new family) perhaps it's best to write off your losses and put your energy into things that are rewarding and important. Opening up a lawsuit doesn't seems like it could be a lot more aggravation than it's worth.

Apple is not your friend. Apple is not your life. Apple is a self-interested company that will make decisions based on its best interests which often, but don't always, coincide with those of its customers. Perhaps one of those policies is to minimize refunds and returns and to attribute malfunctions to user error when possible. In our past exchanges, you seem to equate capitalism with some kind of benign efficiency but that kind of amorality can be quite immoral sometimes.

Best to you and your new family.

It may not be the answer you wanna hear but imo i think in your situation it's best to just ebay your laptop and use the difference to buy a new one or try to come up with a settlement with the company...

The reason is this, as i have worked in the past for about 3 electronic stores, it's against company policies to disclose information about repair facilities/corporate numbers/personal numbers/etc due to the fact as they are either overwhelmed with there job obligations and if they gave out such information you figure hundreds upon hundreds of people would be calling about troubleshooting solutions and such...

you mentioned that you needed this laptop for managing your business priorities well outta experience pursuing with a lawyer and getting a trial date and such can not only be more frustrating but can take so much time...you can sell it broken for a pretty good price and pay maybe $300 or so outta pocket to get a new one (or even cheaper with there refurbs) that all in all would prolly be faster and easier than taking legal action....

just my 2 cents and i know how you feel i was frustrated when awhile back i had a prelude die on me cause of a faulty oil change (killed my motor) and so i know pretty well how hard it is to feel screwed over when you did nothing wrong:(

From my iPhone.

Well everyone goes to show you never give up.
My laptop was completle replaced with a new one sealed box so now I have 2 chargers. And double software.
Apple headquarters denied me, then I was about t file small claims court. Buy I went to the apple store I bought it from again spoke with manager and bam replaced it immediatly.

Amazing.

I am 21 tears old in college

I know first hand all kinds of things happen in college... Is it possible a drunken roommate or classmate stupidly inserted a matchstick into your fan?

I'm just asking "if it is possible"?

I ask because a MacBook overheating to the degree that yours did is not even remotely normal and the Apple technicians could care less if your Apple warranty picks up the cost of a legitimate repair and gain nothing by refusing to repair your MacBook.

this forum is such crap...guy posts up about his problem and then everyone questions if hes a business man and in college at age 21....

I know PLENTY of people here in Ky that run a business and are going to college on the side...but whats the point? Guy is having problems with Apple...

crap like this makes me not want to post on here.

back to the topic: sorry dude hope everything works out.

I think they claimed a matchstick, not a matchbook.

That's fine, but you should be aware that it affects peoples perception of your opinions. If you use bad grammar or spelling, silly abbreviations, no punctuation or capitalization, etc. people will assume you are a child or simply childish and tend to disregard or distrust your statements.

Many people do not write or speak English well, get over yourself.

Talk to Customer Relations again and again until they give in.

Don't send it to Apple...talk to Customer Relations!

A product sepcialist can't help you get a new one, but could help you in identifying the problem. The solution will be CR - Customer Relations will be the ones to give you a new one. I would start a whole new case.

"You get a lot more bees with honey than you do vinegar." ....You say you are a businessman, as am I...work some magic over the phone!!!

I hope for the best!!!

words of advice: don't get off the phone with CR...by company policy you have to hang-up before they do. Tell them you love their products, you want to buy a MacPro, and an iMac, etc...and you are thinking about buying not one more of Apple products ever because of this horrible outcome!!!

Be nice at first, then get serious about your issue, and how it is hurting you financially. I hope something out of my post helps you in your endeavor.

Anyone else notice this? So is she your girlfriend or your wife? Or do you have one of each? I would imagine a wife would be rather mad if their husband referred to them as girlfriend. :)
This guy smells like BS to me...all this talk about filing a lawsuit against Apple, and you walk into an Apple store to buy a Macbook and the manager gives it to you for free?

If I was the manager and had someone trying to screw over my company, like you, there is no way in hell I would give you a free replacement.

I'm having a tough time believing this entire fiasco is real.

First of all, learn how to speak and spell. Secondly, your story is so unbelievable. You can't be both a struggling college student and somehow run a business. Make up your mind.

I want to laugh but somehow this story just seems like a pathetic attemp at attnetion from both forum members and Apple.

And your post was helpful how?

I wrote exactly what I would have thought myself had it been my MacBook in for repair... That being that the simplest explanation is usually correct.

It is much more likely that something happened to OP's MacBook while it was in the OP's possession (not necessarily the OP's fault) as opposed to a conspiracy on Apple's part to avoid repairing it.

I do wish the OP good luck with the repair, but I'm not sold on the idea that Apple fabricated a story to avoid repairing it under warranty.

Per your request:
Keyboard broke on UMB and computer got superheated.
Called for support but got impatient, went to Apple store.
They found melted/burned stuff in there, said mail it in anyway.
Mailed it in, Apple found matchbook in fan area, blamed burn damage on that.
Apple sucks, I didn't do anything, what should I do now?

Special bonus summary sentence: I wrote this on my iPhone since none of my 5 Macs are available for some reason.

Thanks. I wasn't about to read all of that.
