It happens to me a lot, but I would have to darken the screen and see it under bright light. I am not too annoyed about it. I am pretty satisfied with my Macbook Pro.

spraying cats in the eyes with vinegar?

really?

wow.

Dont get me wrong, its not that I don't love cats, I do, its just that I love Macs too. And let's face it, cats are insane.

You have to check out his YouTube video where he goes to the store and gets it. He's got a lot of emotional capitol invested in this machine and now he feels like it's let him down in the worst way.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XMO4zLoYDyI

He'll probably say that he's reading this and I shouldn't talk about him in the third person. Bobby, this part of the response is not intended for you.

This part is:

Bobby, it's not that big of a deal. Does everything else on the machine meet your expectations? Is it fast enough? Does it run well the stuff you use it for? Does it have enough storage? Is the display looking good? Battery life? Fit and finish? I'm guessing probably that answer to these question is "yes".

The laptop you have is a complicated device and a lot goes in to designing and manufacturing it. However, it's made by people. You know... humans. Like us. Humans aren't perfect and therefore neither is the stuff they make.

Things that are a lot cooler than a laptop, such as Ferraris and fighter planes that require a lot of maintenance (more than wiping a screen) and that doesn't at all take away from the coolness (except if it's a Testarossa).

My last machine had the keyboard grease on screen thing and I never even considered it to be a problem. It was just what the thing did and I wiped it off. It certainly didn't take away anything from my perspective.

My Z4-35 broke down last year because the fuel pump failed. I was stuck there for a while waiting for a tow, but it was fixed the next day and ready to tear up the road again. No love lost.

We all love you and we love your threads. You may want to relax on the vinegar in cat eyes, though. Some cat people might take offense to that.

John

Thank you for addressing me directly sir.

Yes I am very happy overall. Although I am also, in this exchange, opting for the optibay route. At first I had gotten the 2.2 and the 7200 HDD but then upgraded to the 2.3 and now also the 256 SSD. So I will have the 256 Apple SSD with the Scorpio Black 750G in the Optibay on the 2.3 with 8G RAM.

I went to the Apple store today and I looked at the display laptops and they looked like they closed so much more crisply than mine. The one I got is definitely messed up without a doubt.

I have this huge theory that it is because it was BTO vs a standard configuration.

I am not THAT upset in the big picture of things but I am bewildered that this is so ridiculously common and that so many people are ok with it because I personally will not just lay down and be a victim of this imperfection.

Hey, Hey, Hey! This is 100% official professional science! The statistical analysis of this data is just as valid as any other sociological survey and is an authoritative scientifical experiment!

Booby wot a load of BS!

AS for your comment on spraying a cat in the eyes with vinegar for touching your MBP, I think that is appalling. Bet you would not have the kahunas to do that if a big cat ie: Snow Leopard, Lion or Tiger went near ur MBP. Booby this kind of hypocrisy puts you in the same league as a redneck wife beater - say hello to your future.....

Hey, leave rednecks alone!

Is that you Cletus?

According to the statistical data, 30% (with a +/- ~10% sample variation) of all users live with a constant plague of imprints.

Okay, as an actual statistician, this is complete ******** here. 2 things:

1) A voluntary internet poll, not to mention, on a tech forum is about as biased as you can get. 2) As if that sampling bias weren't enough, the wording to your questions are utterly ridiculous, and ignore the possibility that the keys may touch the screen with no noticeable affect, that the alignment isn't "perfect" but is entirely acceptable, or that some faint smudging may occur that in no way impacts the user or is even noticeable in day-to-day use. Okay, and a third: "constant plague"? Please.

On a side note: seriously? Is this thread not a joke?

In fact, I'm now kind of ashamed I've actually wasted time responding to this with a serious answer.

I know right???

Well for real though, I called Apple and I simply told them they keys smudge and they said that's not normal and unacceptable and they themselves offered to replace it on those grounds alone.

If so many of you/us are living with this annoyance (or might be expected to) it should be an outrage.

An outrage? Get real dude. Its an electronic item. You want cheap prices? Then deal with mass manufacturing.

People get too crybabyish over something stupid. If you don't like something, return it or exchange it. Its SUPER easy and much more effective then getting worked up about it on a forum.

80% of this forum = evidence to support the notion that mac users are tards. :(.

My pet goat Jonno is a tard and he is greatly offended by this - I think hes on 2 something, he definitely is more intelligent the tards you come across here...

Oh look he's chewing up my bluetooth keyboard.....how cute!

Lol this guy had a whole serious counter-argument about it and everything..

Yeah um.... If the sunglasses smiley face didn't give it away the term "scientifical experiment" should have :)

See thats why I love MRumors; you make a joke about statistics and an ACTUAL statistician will come out of the wood work to correct you talking about "ahem, actuallly..."

Lol

For some strange reason, I don't have this problem with my MBP 13 (2010). However, my little Sony Vaio P exhibits this 'problem'. Very annoying.

^its like someone above had posted though. I might expect this in some other brands, but never ever from Apple!

The more I think about it from a logistical perspective, it would be impossible to prevent touching from carrying pressure.

In theory it would have to be so strong that even when you squeezed it in the middle it would not have chasis flex which would mean it would have to be significantly heavier.

I am more likely to accept this "flaw" on the grounds that it is a logistical limitation/tradeoff.

That sucks for the people that have that issue. I have never had any Apple MBA or MBP do this. A major issue may not be the way to describe it but a huge annoyance it is indeed, especially for anyone who is OCD about a clean computer (like myself) :(

yes ive have noticed it, no i dont care.

this really is a new low in terms of complaining.
im looking for an appropriate smiley for this situation but dont see one.
