I've still to decide what to do with my X and my android Honor 10 that I never really took to.

You could also get a refund for the 2 years of AppleCare that you won't use. I just recycled my 2016 MacBook Pro and got a nice refund for the remaining year + a few months.

I didn't know you could get a refund??!
I assume I just contact Apple and ask them to cancel?

Now, what do I do with my X? I think I'll keep it as a backup device; I've only had it since January.

As gorgeous as the Xs Max screen is, I'm just not a fan of Plus sized phones.

Unless you can afford to keep the X, why not sell it? I have a Xs on the way and I'm prepping my X to sell. Even though I have AC+ on the Xs, I have my SE as back up. To me, the X is a pretty expensive device for a back up phone.

Yea and while everything definitely has a bit more room to breathe, it doesn't really bring much over the Xs screen at this point. iOS 13 may change all that, but right now it's just a blown up Xs. I think I just prefer the smaller size myself, but it's only been a few days. I could change my tune over the next year.
I’ve gone from 8 Plus to XS and have absolutely zero regrets. It’s nice to have a phone that’s light enough that I need to check whether it’s in my pocket rather than it being an ever present weight. In terms of the screen size, I adapted very quickly and don’t miss the extra width at all. Even when watching video content, I find it perfectly adequate.

That's good. I came from a 7 Plus to an X and had no issues. I wasn't compelled to upgrade to the Xs so I went for the Max for the screen, camera, and battery. I am still happy with it, just kind of like the size of the 5.8 better.

I couldn't resist it when I saw it in the store. I had originally wanted the XR for the added screen size but seeing the S Max up close and personal, I went for it.

I got a 256GB model in gold. They had a half-price offer on a gel case if you bought the Max so I got this, too.

‘You did good’. As for the X prices are decent now if you want to sell it

To be honest, I did not even preorder. On 22nd September I merely went into the shop and purchased an Xs Max.
So, I wouldn't say I caved per se'. But...

I'm no longer tempted to try the larger phones. I've tried twice and gone back to the smaller phone each time. The X is the perfect size for me and if I did upgrade it would be the Xs. However to those that like them..... enjoy!!!!

My wife and I happily watched the Xs announcement go by and both told ourselves that we would keep our 8+ phones.

Then we got the pre-approved upgrade iUP email. We both said we wouldn't upgrade as we filled that out … JUST in case. Then went to bed without setting our alarms for the Friday pre-release. Friday morning when we woke up at 6am, we wanted to see how much it would cost to upgrade (~$180 with tax + first month payment). We shocked ourselves by getting Xs MAX phones.

Considering these are MUCH more expensive... I'm definitely going to try to keep these for 2-3 years. I honestly would have been happy with the 8+. But it was too tempting. :)
We will see what tune you will be singing next year. It might be the same record. ;)

I caved in and decided to wait until February 2019 to see what the Samsung S10 has to offer before deciding if I should get the XS Max. My iPhone 7+ is running buttery smooth with iOS12.

I Also opted for the XS Max, which will hopefully be delivered by Friday. In theory, I really don’t think the XS Max is *that* much more expensive over the iPhone X, and you’re receiving larger display and a bigger battery, and those are two huge considerations for me.

Yes it's only £100 more than I paid for my X last year, same storage. I think after the keynote I became fixated on the £1445 price tag but afterwards I thought about it and it's not that bad.

The number to call is 1-800-my-apple. It may be trickier if you're on the upgrade program. If so read the details of your contract first so you don't lose your upgrade option. Just saw that information when I looked up the number.

Not sure whether to do this or whether to leave it as it may make the phone easier to sell and add some value??
I have a year left on the AppleCare (handset was purchased outright directly from Apple - not on any upgrade program etc).....

I sold the X for £560 which wasn't too bad considering it's almost a year old and I got a lot of use out of it.

One thing, though, you definitely notice the XS Max in your pocket - have to be careful putting it in and taking it out. I got a very good case for it - strong plastic, almost inflexible and thick. I got it for half-price, £12.50, with the iPhone.

So as a backup phone, I've got my Honor 10 - I never really took to it and use it rarely, but it will do most of what the Max will do if I need it to.

Out of curiosity, when you guys say backup phone, do you carry them with you wherever you go, or lock it up in the drawer and bring it out in case your main phone acts up?

I keep it in my bedroom and use it for podcasts, music, reading etc. in bed.

My main sim is in the XS Max on which I do everything else and take out of the house with me. I've had 3 phones before, but that was 1 too many.

Friday I was about to upgrade my X to the XS Max until my Series 4 Apple Watch was delivered. Now I’m able to hold out for another year with my X. I’ll just purchase new skins, cases and keep changing my screensaver and I’ll feel like I have a new phone.

Rather a waste bothering with new cases since they won't fit any other device and if you're getting rid of your X in a year.

The Max is better on my middle-aged eyes! Would I like it to be more pocketable/one-handed? Sure, but that kind of phone will not be available until foldable phones are a thing. For now, the larger, easier to read screen wins for me.

Oddly it seem like the glass/rails have much more grip than the original X.
Did you change colors? I feel like mine is more slippery, but I had a white X and a black XS, I think the coating on the black stainless makes it feel slipperier.

The Max I ordered will be delivered today.

It's SOOOO NICE reading a thread that's positive on the Max after spending hours reading through the other thread about connectivity issues, which raised my blood pressure a lot.

Like some of you, I bought the X last year (on the IUP) and justified the expense by promising to keep it for at least two years.

I loved the X except for the screen size, which seemed like a downgrade from the 7 Plus I had before. So when the Max was announced, I was tempted...and finally broke the promise I made myself and ordered one.
