Nice way to justify not waiting. But the watch 7 with a new redesign and faster is meh for you then what is a worth an upgrade.
Hey, I am just talking about my own needs. I need an Apple Watch now because this is going to be a very active training Summer for me. Plus it looks like all those rumors about a glucose monitor etc are NOT coming to the series 7 anyway. Some are even saying it won’t even get the redesign this year. And as far as speed? The series 6 is already super fast. So yeah, based on that, it was meh for me and not worth waiting for The series 7. But if anyone wants to wait for the 7, thats totally cool. 👍🏼

ive heard the series 7 is going to be a body redesign going to flat edges like the iphone 12 line up
Some reports are now saying the flat edged redesign won’t happen until 2022. 🤷‍♂️ But who knows. It’s only a few months away. So might be worth waiting for. I couldn’t wait cause i needed an Apple watch this Summer for some extensive bike touring. Totally happy with the series 6. Love it.

let's be honest.. 5 to 6 was meh too. and if not for Always on display, so was 4 to 5. Very few take advantage of the watch's full power. Most use it for notifications, workouts and unlocking their phones / macs. How many are going to notice the 'fast' AW7 compared to 6 or even 5?

Yep, since I have an S4, S5 and S6… the difference in speed isn’t very obvious at all in day-to-day use.
AOD is noticable of course, even from S5 to S6 - the improvement in brightness is really quite big.

Where did you read that? (2022 redesign)

I recently cracked the screen of my S3, is it worth upgrading to a S6 or SE now or wait 3 months for the S7?
Why not both? The S6 is a big bump from the S3. When the S7 comes around, assuming the world's chips issues are sorted out, you can actually get one, and you actually want one, your S6 will still have decent trade in (or sale potential if you want to go that route). Wait for the 'next big thing' and you'll always be waiting. Enjoy nicer things while you can.

It is not feasible for most people as there aren't nice trade-ins everywhere. While it is true that the wait will be never ending for the 'next big thing', if I hear that the 2022 iPhone will not have notch and have a fingerprint scanner (and at the same not look like an iPhone 8), I'd wait

Not sure I agree that the S6 will still have good resale value when the S7 comes out, especially if it’s a redesign. The AW in general holds value worse than any other Apple product by a long shot. That problem will only be worse later this year if there is a redesigned casing and suddenly the old design isn’t as in demand. If the OP gets an S6 now, I wouldn’t count on it holding more than 50% of its original value when the S7 comes out. And it could be less than that.

If you are thinking you want to wait for the S7 this fall, I would suggest picking up a lightly used S4 or S5 from a place like Swappa to tide you over. They can be had for relatively cheap and won’t lose too much more value when the S7 comes out (since most of their depreciation has already happened). You should be able to resell in the fall and pull most of your money back out if you want to.

Similar with me. I bought a SS 44mm series 5 December 2020. Earlier this year I was putting it on when it slipped, hit the hardwood floor face down and cracked the sapphire glass. 😠. I found a place in Utah that would repair just the glass (ion-x…not sapphire) for like $175. I shipped it out and a month later had it back. Was like brand new. About a month ago was playing golf and my driver head hit the face and “crack” ! The watch was jinxed.

Was in the same dilemma: series 6 now or wait for the 7. I decided to pick up a series 6 (blue aluminum, deep navy silicone solo loop…size 12:). Much of the decision based on rumors of a lackluster series 7…plus, there have been big markdowns on the S6 lately. This time, I got apple care😊.
