The only PC that I think comes close to Apple is Razer. Their trackpad is glass and gets very close to Mac quality and feel.
It’s also close to Mac prices but they make very capable gaming machines.
Obviously does not come close to performance or anything when running on battery. I haven’t seen a pc beat apple in that department.
That is not ultrabook though and not even very portable as a normal laptop, marketed towards gaming (noisy fans?), kinda hard for me to see them as equivalent lol.

My eyes get tired whenever I’m on a Windows PC. I’ve given it plenty of tries, but Macs just feel better for me. Sure, Windows laptops with OLED screens look amazing, but after 10 minutes I always end up back on my Mac. If you’re going for value, a decently priced Windows machine definitely gives you more for the money. But once you’re after higher performance, Macs are just on another level. I’m really happy with my 14” M1 Pro and I’ll stick with it until Apple drops support or it finally gives up. Currently my Battery health is at 82%. So, I probably will change the battery next year.

The thing that keeps me away from other Laptops than an Apple Macbook is the utter ensh***fication of microsoft.

Razer blade 16 is equivalent to a MacBook Pro 16. Arguably a better product - it’s faster (yes uses way more power), runs a broader range of software (games included), but has terrible battery life.
Still if you want to build quality of apple on a PC the Razer is the only one I’ve seen come close.

Yes I did notice Razer always had thin apple like design with extremely good specs.

I just can’t use anything other than apple MacBooks.

As soon as I see it or open other laptops than Apple I just refuse. I just start experiencing how bad rest of the industry is.

MacBook is way way more efficient, TDP of 50W for CPU (M4 Max), versus 75W for CPU, on top of performance difference. This is not even close. It does have more powerful GPU - sure, but you don't buy MacBook for gaming, and for ML you are probably gonna be more constrained with Razer there...

It is not using more power to beat the competition, it is using more power than Apple to be behind by less tragic margin. When it comes to CPU.

I have been pretty happy with the various thinkpads+w7/10/11 I've used for work to date. Of course they were work laptops but they performed well, were light and the keyboards and trackpads were ok. What I did not care for too much with my most recent Thinkpad L13 Yoda was the plastic-y case and the USBc ports seemed not as well secured on the logicboard as my macbook. What I liked about it? It has nice i/o including legacy USB-A on each side which my mbp does not have and Im a bit salty about.

So yeah, do I like and own Apple macbooks? Yes. Do I think they have good value for most folks? Yeah. Do I hink there is alot of crappy junk out there? Absolutely. Do I think they are the only quality laptop out there? No.

I definitely like macos - handsdown. BUT if money was tight, I would have zero issues throwing MX Linux on a more modestly priced laptop and be absolutely ok.

I have a 16" MacBook Pro M4 and a Lenovo 16" Yoga Pro 9i, and... the MacBook has great battery life. Superb, even. The other does not. At the same time, if forced to pick one, I'd pick the Yoga Pro. It is a well-built and powerful machine that is a joy to use, and cost me around $600 less.

I've used and owned a variety of laptops, from my employer or bought with my own money
Dell, HP, Lenovo, Razer and Apple of course

My experience is, that Lenovo thinkpads are excellent machines, great keyboard, excellent build quality, they last years and years. Lenovo supports them for years and years.

Razer is a boutique type of laptop, overly expensive, stunning design, but horrible customer support and build quality no where near Apple's.

Dell has been hit or miss, when I've owned them they were pretty good, now not so much. My work laptop is a dell latitude and I hate it.

The least of me experience is HP, but when I used one for work, it was decent, not great, not bad.

Overall, if I were to buy a laptop, and I was in this very situation last year, I opted for a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s and its been a great laptop. Fantastic battery, good performance, awesome build quality, keyboard is so much better then Apple's.

I will stay away from Razer products. Even their mice try to install the junky Razer software automatically (even if you tell it not to install at all), and when installed, it has a noticeable impact on both startup time and overall Windows performance.

Nothing from Razer is equivalent to a Mac of any sort. They're heavier, louder, hotter, more power hungry and a lower build quality than the Mac lineup. I only bring my Mac AC adapter with me when I'm traveling for a few days or longer. Otherwise the adapter stays at the house plugged into the surge protector. I wouldn't be able to run a Razer laptop off AC long enough to get any work done.

Every one I've seen, yes. Looks like a child attacked it in the factory with a sticker pack before someone took it away and packaged it up.
Aww that’s nostalgia for me :) Not having those stickers everywhere (or your choice of where to put them) was one of the benefits of building your own winbox I suppose.

The only two stickers I put on my gaming desktop (which I built rather than purchasing a prebuild) are the AMD Ryzen sticker and the G.Skill sticker. Even then I forget they're there because they blend in so well that they disappear unless I'm actively looking for them. When I see the computers on sale at Best Buy and other places I'm reminded of a middle school locker with all kinds of stuff stuck on them.

Indeed. Retail folks went a little wild with the stickers around the TOTC. I remember seeing 4+ badges on some towers and laptops. Good to hear over 20 years folks still havent
Gotten the memo :D

I use Surface tablets. SP 11 which has a detachable BT keyboard, and pen support. I also have a Surface Pro 12 inch, which is fanless, and sort of like an iPad. I have 2 M4 Mac Mini's

So many Windows machines out there, and the vast majority are not at the Apple level. But you don't pay for that.

One of the best things about Apple machines is it's rather easy to sell them.

Conversely, I don’t think I’d ever choose to use windows again at this point unless work required it. I’ve grown to really enjoy macOS and am most efficient & comfortable there. My alternate choice to macOS is MX-23, also an excellent os.

To each their own I suppose :)

I bought my first Mac for our kids' middle school laptop program. This was around 18 years ago. We have been a MacBook family ever since.

For me, the big moment was the introduction of the second iteration of the MacBook Air in 2010. It was the first "ultrabook" laptop that was an affordable everyday computer. As Jobs said, they imagined what would happen if a laptop and an iPad hooked-up.

To this day, the MacBook Air is the go to computer for our family. All three of my kids took MBAs to college and had four trouble free years of productive use. Plus, those MBAs lasted for years after college.

I currently have a base M2 MBA, and it is the best electronic device I have ever owned. It blows my mind that you can get the latest iteration of these fantastic machines (base M4 MBA 16/256), on sale, for $799. In my opinion, it is the best value in tech.

I have a MacBook Air as well as a ThinkPad and as much as I prefer the Apple ecosystem I usually take the ThinkPad with me when I head out of the house.

I am the same! I haven't used a PC since 2005. I only used a PC because at the time I worked for IBM! 😂 I was forced to use it! I worked from home and my company issued ThinkPad failed. I used my iMac for work until the ThinkPad got repaired! I currently use a 2012 MacBook Pro and 2017 iMac!

The nice thing about my ThinkPad was the ability to upgrade the RAM and add an additional SSD. The battery can also be replaced very easily. With the ThinkPad also don’t worry about being rough with it as it is built like a tank.

It is all relative. I run High Sierra and Mojave on these machines for Aperture and Adobe CS6. They still run as they did ten years ago! 😂 I also had a 2012 13" MacBook pro up until a few months ago when I sold it.

If it works, why change?
