I needed a larger phone because I had trouble reading many websites on a 3.5" screen. Also, trying to game on a 3.5" screen while having to keep your fingers in the way could be annoying.

I loved my 4S, but I love my 6 more.

I don't frequent these forums much anymore, so to me this topic is legitimate and interesting. What will happen to the future of the 4" smartphone.

To me, I agree with the writers of those articles. I hope they do continue to legacy of the iPhone 5/5S and the smaller screen size. I admit that the 3.5" has "grown a bit small" over the years. It does feel dated, but the 4" form factor seems to be about right for use as a mobile phone.

Like the writers of the articles who have ventured to the 4.7" Android screen size, I have to agree that for people with smaller hands, even that form factor is a bit of a reach. Like them, I have also returned to the 5S as it seems to be the perfect (by perfect I mean compact and usable) screen size for me.

Do I think Apple will continue the trend? I don't know. I think if it sells well over this next year, they may keep the 5S around for a bit longer and who knows, maybe if it sells well enough, it'll warrant the development of a new 4" screen iPhone (I hope this will happen). The big phones are here to stay because people need different screen sizes, but I hope Apple doesn't forget the little people.

just read somewhere that manufacture of 5C will stop next summer and 5S will stop end of next year.

Yeah! Who cares about opinions? Every thread should just be cold statements backed by hard facts. Good idea.

Agree with the sarcasm, most of what is talked about on these forums is opinion...

Yeah! Let's just have everyone who purchased an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus make a new thread about why they made the choices they made.

Screw the posters that have legitimate product questions or need technical help...

i never have gone from 100-0% battery in 1 day.

ever.

that's my reply.

Lol I have to charge every iPhone since the 3G days at least twice a day. However I do use it like every 5 minutes to check fb, instant, twitter, Snapchat, imsg, viber, whatsapp

In my opinion, the 4.7" i6 is the perfect size for a pocketable and portable smartphone. The 4" screens are tiny and unsuited to heavy use. There are plenty of smaller options out there for those who don't really need a big screen, and the 5S is still just as capable when it comes to performance. I can reach all areas of the i6 screen with one-handed use so I don't see the problem. It isn't an overly big phone.

If Apple released a 4" screen replacement. I'd gladly toss my 6 and grab it. Not a fan of having to use reachability to close apps or click back. Yes some apps support swipe left to right but not all. The 5 really is a great device from an ergonomic stand point.

Impossible to reach top left corner here.

All the people who love big phones are just going to have to suck it up and let those of us who like smaller phones say our bit. It's only fair, you guys got to moan for the previous 7 years, now it's our turn ;)

Ps I have an iphone 6, it's fine, but I still prefer smaller phones. In 2 years if apple hasn't resurrected the size, the 5s is going to be off the market/ so outdated we'll have zero options.

Impossible to reach top left corner here.

You do have to adjust your grip a little, but it can all be done one-handed. Heck, I have to occasionally adjust my grip with the i5/5S.

I personally wouldn't have moved back to Apple if they didn't increase their screen size.

I'm still for the smaller form factor. Sadly I skipped the 5S and stayed with my 5, now I can't get a 64GB replacement I'm all but forced to eBay one (which I just don't trust) or get the 6.

For me this is a dick move because it represents two situations that aren't right for me as a consumer. I liked the form factor, it suited me, I was perfectly fine with using it productively and creatively etc etc.. I didn't have those problems or concerns. The bigger screen wouldn't have improved any of my usage experiences.

I like that there is now a 128GB option, just means I can do more, but to force me to get a 6 to maintain my current space requirements is not fair.

I'll wait and see what happens next year. Rumors of new phones normally start around feb right? Perhaps we'll all be pleasantly surprised by a new 5 refresh to kill production of the 5c and 5s? perhaps we'll see a 6 mini 4". Who knows, I just hope that the increased sales of the 5S on launch day and since (and while I don't have the source to hand there was a spike referenced, maybe even here on Mac Rumours) point to a market that still thrives underneath the larger phone masses.

I just like to create a good discussion.
There's no "good discussion" to be had. It's a matter of preference and threads like this just degenerate into people trying to argue that what they prefer is best because they can't see that others have differing preferences.

5C will stop production summer of 2015 and 5s will stop production end of 2015. as per article i read somewhere. i don't think they will keep on making 5s or 5c as they already released 6. i haven't seen any company moving backward. it is what it is, even if you like the compactness of the 5, guess you have to move up to a 6 at least.

Then create a good discussion, instead of "I like smaller phones. Here's why" and then following it up with two links to OTHER articles you didn't write that you now expect us to read both of so... why? We can finally find the answer to why MacRumors user mcfinch wants a smaller phone?

I'm assuming you prefer a smaller phone because it fits better in your hands. Congratulations. I prefer a bigger phone because I want a bigger display to read web pages on and I tend to type two-handed anyway, so one-handed use is trivial for me. There are three different sized iPhones on the market, and you want to start a huge discussion about why people would want a phone that was smaller or larger. HMMM, GEE, I WONDER WHY ANYBODY WOULD PREFER A LARGER OR SMALLER PHONE.

This isn't a good discussion.

This forum isn't that busy.

I always wear black socks.:D
Bacon is my favorite food. Vodka is my favorite drink.

Apple needs to make a variety of iPhone sizes and not force everyone to buy this gigantic displays. We could've gotten a 4 inch iPhone 6.

ITS NOT FAIR
Oh fiddle sticks. Apple is not "forcing" anyone to buy anything. And there are still plenty of new 5s and 4s available for sale. And the displays are not "gigantic". My TV is gigantic. My 6 is microscopic by comparison.
