So the great people at my local Apple Store were very understanding of the situation and gave me a brand new iPhone.

One thing I'd like to mention is that I have a feeling that Apple quietly upgraded the speakerphone on the newer productions of the iPhone. My speakerphone is MUCH louder than the iPhone I bought back in October.

I no longer have to hold the phone close to my ear to hear the speakerphone while driving.

Congrats mate!

I agree with you on the Speaker thing.
I was the first in line for an iPhone at my local Apple Store on June 29th. I got my iPhone replaced in January because it had some stuck pixels (that didn't bother me at all. I had all sorts of scratches and dents, big ones. I once had my phone in my back pocket with two pencils. I fell on my butt and landed with the two pencils on the bottom with the back of the iphone landing on the pencils. That left a DEEP impression on the phone). Replaced for free though. =)

The thing I regret though is knowing that I no longer had the first iphone sold at the Reno Apple Store.... :(

the speakerphone did not get "upgraded" as in a hardware upgrade. apple addressed this fix in the 1.1.2 upgrade.

Sorry to hear, but I suppose if you work in starbucks perhaps you should have bought a cheaper phone?

Thank your lucky stars my fortunate fellow.

that exact same happened to me (dropping of the iphone in vanilla syrup)....its a very common problem. Fortunately my iphone works great now. Since the vanilla syrup dried up, i had to reheat it by microwaving the phone for about a minute. It was amazing...the syrup simply melted out.

hahahaahahh nice, thats all i gotta say

I had 1.1.4 in my ill-fated iPhone. In the new one I received, there is a very audible difference between the two models with regard to the speakerphone.

Wrong. None of the iPhones I've had (Been replaced twice, on my third now) have speaker quality worth a crap. And they've all had the latest firmware, always. Just waiting for another excuse to get mine replaced....Gotta buy AppleCare before June though.
