See if its serial number has been registered (if you try to register it yourself at Apple.com, it should tell you, right?). If it has, return it to the owner. Otherwise, enjoy.

First off, Thanks for all the replies.

It is a track open to the public, and usually only gym students (we were uniforms, and they don't have pockets), Marching band (Me! I've asked everyone I know, and while the Drum Major wants it, it's not his :p ), and some track students (once again, uniforms). So it must be someone that uses it publicly. The track doesn't have an office.

I gave it to my friend who's been through hell and back, because she deserves it, and now it's filled with Death Cab for Cutie.

$100 isn't THAT much money these days, at least not at my school. But then again, that's opening a whole new can of worms.

But hey, I found a palm Lifedrive on the sidewalk outside of B&N last week, and I returned it. And I'm a nice guy. So no karma issues there.

Oh, and if they are a macrumors member, then the HS was Thomas Dale.

All of you should come to the football game this Friday. Even thought I don't know any of you well.

Yey. Thanks again.

(Oh, and how would you go about charging the shuffle?)

LifeDrives are pretty nifty. Cool features but limited by PalmOS.

That's my way of saying, "Whoa, neat! My Palm is old and kinda sucky!" But on the Palms you can set a contact as yourself, so people can figure it out... and on my Shuffle is a TXT document that has my Name/Number/Email address, for what good it may do. iPod's about screen is very useful. Contact screen useful too.

Funnily enough, the opening track of Plans is entitled Marching Bands Of Manhattan and contains the the lyrics:

If I could open my mouth
Wide enough for a marching band to march out

Maybe it's a sign that The Universe supports this ethically questionable procurement ;)

Oh my god. NOONE IN THIS FORUM LISTENS. The poster said they didn't want ethics discussion, because they can make their own decisions (and already have!). Let it go!

I'd say q-tips and alcohol or just water should work fine.

Goody two shoes here: Isn't there a Mac site with id numbers for stolen lost computers? I recall hearing this over a decade ago about Apple computers, wonder if the serial number thing would apply here. I think I saw the site for it a few months back, anyway. Would make ya feel better about keeping it, though. It would me.

In the US, there might be something like that. But when my Powerbook was stolen I called the Austrian Apple Online Store (where I bought it) and they said something like "what the hell are you talking about?". There are some local stores that have such lists on their homepage, though, but they refused to put my Powerbook serial number on this list since I bought it elsewhere (Apple Online Store).
