Firstly, this might be in the wrong place. For that i apologise
Secondly, I know that the title sound too good to be true. (Read on to find out how i found it)

I was on the bus coming home from meeting up with friends and the person infront of me got off, He was (i think) samalian, but he didnt speak english or he wasn't on the bus anyway. As i was getting off many stops after he got off i saw it on the chair so i took it, i figured if i didn't someone else will. It's been 3 days since then and i've left it on with the SIM card in it and waited to see if anyone would ring it but no, I took the SIM card out to see what service he was on and it turns out the SIM card is actually cut down to fit into the phone. I am unable to call him/anyone since it does have a passcode on it i honestly tried the 0000 or the 1111 to see if those worked but nope. He didn't look like the type of guy who'd own an iPhone he looked very scruffy. So i figured its either stolen or found it himself or is like bought with drug money.

I DO plan on keeping it but is hard since it has the passcode on it, i've seen a lot of "found an iPhone" on this forum and a lot of people accuse them of stealing. I asure you i did not steal it. It may be hard to believe someone would simply lose it but it happens. Yes if i was in that situation i would be devastated but i know that i also wouldn't get it back, Lifes a b---- what can i say. So any trolls trying to say i stole go ahead. Not going to bother. since you one bumped my thread and two gave me something to lol at. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Matt-

The part about "he didn't look the type of guy who'd own an iPhone" fun fact..anyone can own an iPhone..
glad you are saying you will do the right thing..maybe the owner will reward you.

I'll never understand why anybody would broadcast to the world, I found a phone and have no intention of doing the right thing. Please show me how to break into the phone so I can keep it as my own. Google the info you need and stop trying so hard to make yourself look like a fool.

If you read through the thread, he actually does have the intention of returning it and is going to do so. His initial post didn't indicate this, but through discussion has decided to do something about getting it back to the owner.

I guess posting without intent of doing the right thing was actually beneficial in this case.

Enjoy your new iPhone. If people are that clumsy to leave their stuff just laying around hoping the good Samaritan will search high and low for them to give it back then they deserve to have a wake up call.
Call it thievery or whatever you want.
No amount of cry baby petitioning from trolls would make me feel any different if I were the OP.

And before you ask, yes, I've lost an iphone before. And no, I didn't cry because it was gone. I called it yes, but it didn't get returned. It was me being careless.
Oh well.

first person I have heard that lost a phone ... and was happy to not have it returned

A quick Google search will tell you that keeping it is larceny, which is in fact a crime.

An object is found, no one claimed it, its not larceny.

Oh no I found a penny on the ground, The owner isn't present, Oh well I'm going to keep the penny.

Do you think that would be a crime of larceny?

A penny is not the same an iPhone. If I found your car and took it, would that be fine with you? I mean, it was just lying there?

For it to be larceny the object must have value (this value varies depending on the law) eg: A motor vehicle must have a value of $100 or greater in the State of New York in order to qualify for a larceny charge.

EDIT: It just so happens the OP is from the UK, where larceny has been abolished, but I didn't know that at the time I posted that.

If I found a $100 dollar bill on the floor, it would be in my wallet the second after I saw it.

In this thread a thief tries to rationalize stealing someones iPhone by trying to find similar people with no moral values.

And the fact that you "think" he was Somalian and he "didnt look like he could own an iPhone" and you ASSUME he "stole it or bought it with drug money" just show's how far your moral values are in the toilet... and also that you're racist as hell.

Enjoy painting that turd all the colors of the rainbow, at the end of the day it'll still be a turd.

I don't know when school is in session over in the UK but you're about to get a hard lesson in Karma, my friend. Enjoy it. :)

You can hand it over to an Apple Store which will then contact the owner. That's exactly what I did when I found an iPhone. How dare you keep a phone, something so traceable.

Can everyone stop posting their opinion of how bad the OP is, he isn't here anymore and probably won't read your comments.

In the UK, it's known as theft by finding and it is most definitely a crime.

everyone has a story about the time he found a load of money and of course turned it in. i love how honest everyone is on the net. i often wonder why i even bother to lock my doors...oh wait, i dont live online! thats why i lock them.

online its easy to be noble but i doubt much of it carries over to reality.

I know a lot of people who would do the right thing..

The world is much corrupt. The chances of a lost item being transferred from an honest person to another honest person until the rightful owner is found is very slim.

If the iPhone owner ever finds his iPhone, please make a 5 minute video and upload it to YouTube, because it's just that rare.

The OP opened a thread like this asking how he could keep the phone, and then said he would return it.

IMO he just wanted attention, wether he would return it or not. And the trolls fullfilled his wish.
