Pretty sweet huh?

Here's the deal.......before you bash me and call me a thief........

Here's the sweet part: read my username.

I was out at the local Indian Casino gambling away my money (BINGO really) and doing a great job of it.....1 number away so many times!! Well the bingo hall was clearing out and as I walked out with a buddy of mine, he says to me, "Dude! You dropped your iPhone!!". Im like WTF!!!! So I reach down and grab it and put it in my pocket......thinking nothing of it (other than I'm an idiot for dropping it) cause I own an iPhone, bought it the day it came out. Apparently when it dropped from the original owners hand, purse, backpack, whatever, it shutoff. No ring all night. Bingo ended at nearly 11PM so I was home and in bed pretty quick and forgot to put "my iPhone" on the charger. Thats when I should have realized I had 2 iPhones on me, but i went to bed so I didn't. Woke up this morning and grabbed at my shorts from yesterday for my wallet, keys and iPhone.....two of them.......
WOW, the evening before popped in my head and I promptly turned on the new one to find a contact list, text, email, something to help identify the owner. First thing I see is the recent list and it says "House"!!! Sweet!!!! Nope. The owner turned it off and I couldnt make a call from the phone. It says to call 611 to get help with the phone. Cool. Called 611, they had a number to get in contact with the owner. She called the owner, we verified a few things to make sure (not likely their contact for a lost phone would be anyone other than them) and within 40 minutes the guy was at my house (it was his wife's phone that he bought for her for her birthday only 2 weeks earlier if I remember the story right). DUDE GAVE ME 40 BUCKS TOO!!!!
I know this is long for a returned phone story, but I wanted to let people know not only are there some honest people left in the world......all these stories about "I found an iPhone and cant find the original owner!" are BS. You know you stole it , or really found it but aren't honest enough to give it back, or are too greedy and have to keep it for yourself.
Well here's telling you that if you do "FIND" an iPhone and dont want to return it, your a piece of bantha poo-doo.
I'D FREAK IF I LOST MINE......HERE'S TO RETURNING A LOST iPHONE!!!

You must keep your phone in nice shape to have mistaken your nearly 2 year old phone for a 2 week old phone.

I got mine day 1 also and it kind of shows.

I've mistaken my roommates 3g for my original. Usually I realize almost instantly, but I could see how after a few drinks I could easily just grab it, throw it in my pocket and walk away...

but I want to ask the OP something: Did you sign up for an account on macrumors just so you could show how good of a person you are? lol

And with that handle he'll never let anyone forget it. haha

Well done OP. You should be commended. What did you buy with the $40? I would have bought a lot of McDonalds, I think! :D

i would have met the guy at a coffee shop or gas station or something, wouldn't have a complete stranger coming to my house

Very nice. Hope I get someone like you if I ever lost my phone. :p

Maybe it was a casino that give out free drinks while gambling which would explain why he didn't realize he didn't drop it and also maybe why he went to be right away when getting home. :p

Kudos for returning it!

Haha, maybe suggest meeting him at a local eatery. That way, you can "wring" a free meal out of it too :D

 You don't know that. Why would someone who stole it want to come here and register/post to try to contact the owner if that wasn't their intention?

Also, your English is horrible.

You're a winner, buddy.

Well done on returning the iPhone to it's original owner. I'd hope that someone did the same for me if I ever lost mine.

Someone else will sign up with the username "IGotMyIPhoneBack" just to say "Thank You" to him :p
