Not one person here use windows 3.1 days and very good at English that may explain what I'm trying to say that is hard to read and unserstand for some members here.
I speak/read/write English very well and have used every version of Windows since version 1.0. I currently use Windows XP, Windows 7 at work. I have used linux, BSD, Solaris for the last 10 years. I have been using Mac OS X since Tiger and am currently using Snow Leopard. I also remember System 7-9 days from when I was in school. I am afraid that I still do not fully understand the main point you are trying to make. If you do speak another language natively and really want other people to understand, perhaps you should explain it in your native language in the hope that some kind soul will help you translate your ideas better.
I think the main confusion, as has been expressed already, is that most of your explanation has nothing to do with the title of the thread. When I read the thread title, I was expecting to see something about how you convinced your family to switch. You give a bit of background on you and your family before the switch, but I am left wondering about the reaction of your family members after they purchased Macs. A little more on their reactions would be nice. Also, how many Macs and what kind were they? Details would be lovely here.
Where it really gets confusing is where you start mentioning KDE and EDE. Are you talking about the K Desktop Environment and the Equinox Desktop Environment, GUI environments for unix-like systems?
I think the main problem is that you are trying to make several, loosely-related points about why you personally prefer different parts of several operating systems. I agree with you that a short post cannot do it justice. I suggest you take your time and write out a long post explaining in detail exactly what you are trying to say.
Of course, my suggestion is based on the assumptions that you really want your points to be understood and think it is worth the time. If any of those assumptions are not true, feel free to leave us all confused.
