So I work in a control room with one other guy. We work 13 hour shifts, 14 days straight and get 7 days off. Needless to say, we spend a lot of time together, and he annoys me to no end. He is a chronic liar and a one up artist. Everything I do in my personal life, he has to do, but better. One up (in his eyes) always. I bought a Harley, he bought an Indian right after. I bought a house in the country, he bought a luxury condo in the city. Anything I’ve ever done in life he has done but only more, or better, or more expensive.
I ordered my X and got a launch day release. I was excited and told him about it. It was home waiting for me when I went on days off, and of course have it now with me back at work. He shows up for our rotation with a new note 8. Saying he happened to be in the Apple store on days off and was looking an a X but there was literally a line up of angry people waiting to get help with defective X’s. There was yelling and security involved. All in all an ugly scene. He b-lined out of there and went and purchased a Note 8. A way better, and much less expensive device according to him.
Every visitor who comes into our control booth is shown his new device and given a speach on how superior it is to the X. Larger screen, hand writing capabilities, superior android software, and a run down of all the rumored issues with the X bla bla bla. I gotta say that while the Note 8 is a very nice device for what it is, it’s not an iPhone... and who wants to carry that big bulky unit around? Screw him and his rediculously large handset. Let’s see how much he likes carrying that around in the middle of summer. Where you going to put that thing? Ha. X wins again.

Sounds like both of you guys are playing the "one up" game. But hey, it's your story. LOL

At least in my social circle it's always the samsung people who try to convince every one all the time how much iPhone sucks compared to Samsung phones. Why can't they just enjoy their phone and stop talking about iPhone? It's funny, because looking at Samsungs commercials they are exactly the same.

This sounds like you’re both as bad as each other. I work with an alpha male who has to be right about everything and is ruled by his ego. I just agree with him or stay quiet. It’s best not to give people like that too much satisfaction that they are getting to you.

Just smile, nod and let that little voice in your head say: ‘I’d love to punch you in the face’....

The silent satisfaction will get you through lol 🙂

Sound like you are both competitive.

Also sounds more Like a relationship 😛 love hate .

Both the X and note are great units .

All sounds incredibly childish.

I used to get pulled into that sort of thing but then I grew up. I personally couldn’t care less who likes my phone, car, home, me.

This guy you describe is everything I hate about the world.

Sooo. Are you not happy with your Harley, iPhone, and house in the country? I have to be honest that your choices are subjective and personally more in line with what I would choose. Nothing wrong with Note, city, and Indian, but if I had to pick a group of three choices I’d pick yours.

Move on and be happy with what you have.

You guys should settle this once and for all.

I recommend an epic open battlefield slaughter:

Battle of the Smartphone Bastards - Epic open battlefield slaughter between House iPhone vs House Note

It must start with a good “Come and See” letter.

Please record and post on YouTube.

Better is relative. I had the Note 8 for about 10 days and I now have the X. If we’re talking about features and things you can do with your phone - the Note 8 destroys the iPhone X. If we’re talking about ease of use, software, customer support, and design, the X wins, hands down.

The Note 8 is a super cool and fun phone, but I found it buggy. I like minimal notifications and despite turning them off, I was still getting those red dots. And I spent hours and hours trying to get music from iTunes to the phone and couldn’t figure it out. I’ll stick with Apple.

I come to MR for the insecure replies to posts. This ones real good because the whole post was about one upping and self worth. The comments did not disappoint. Priceless!

Sounds like a riveting tv show that Apple could produce 🙂
