a lil update

Today I received my 15" macbook pro and just as I thought the wait was over....i noticed something ridiculous... my mbp was damaged during shipment. I had a fairly large hole through the bottom of the cardboard box and felt a very noticeable dent on the back side of my machine. After discovering that i figured i should open it up to see if i could complain about any other damages. As soon as I felt like there was only one issue.... the side where the ethernet port is ended up being COMPLETELY deformed and made a gap between the backplate and the top plate of the computer causing me to see the chips inside. I immediately called apple and requested for a replacement.

After I played with my broken macbook pro for about 2 hours i also noticed that the hinge was weak. I couldnt tilt my machine without the lid falling down on me.. is this normal? or another defected i inherited?

Long story short, I they got fedex to send me a label so i can ship it back out, so i did and i am now waiting on apple's response saying that fedex did receive my old laptop. Btw this time I made sure to get the expedited shipping service....and they gave it to me for no extra charge. Hopefully this time around it will come to papa with no damages.:apple:

NC McGuy,
FcNo,

That's horrible. I'd just request a refund and buy it at a brick and mortar store.

If i did that i would have to pay a restocking fee correct? I dont wanna shell out anymore money on it, but this is the last straw for them to make it right. If my mac comes beat up again or any other issues, im just gunna get a refund and not look back.

Hey FcNo, I feel your pain man...I ordered a 13 inch Macbook pro CTO on the 6th and it shipped on the 11th. Since then I've had a helluva time with Fedex. It got to Memphis, Tn on Friday and I got excited because I live close to Knoxville, Tn. Of course they sh*t all over that, and I ended up getting a "shipment exception", and there it sits at this moment on the tracking page; yes you heard right it has said the same thing for FOUR days. So I called them and they said the label had gotten torn off and they had to replace it, and it would ship today, and arrive tomorrow(19th). Of course you couldn't tell that by looking at the tracking page because they update it whenever it's convenient to them. So hopefully I'll get it tomorrow, now I just got to worry about them delivering it to the right house and if it will be damaged or not. Hope everything works out for ya man!:)

well traveled

wow my laptop was shipped from china to alaska to memphis ,ohio , and finally michigan ..my laptop is well traveled as for me I have not left MI. in years let alone another country . Must be nice to be an apple laptop..:D

Hello guys, im a long time reader but a first time poster. I just purchased my VERY FIRST refurb macbook pro (latest model 2.66ghz) on aug the 7th. Fedex had said that my computer would be delivered on the 12th.....guess what? they are now telling me it'll be either thursday, friday, or saturday..... I find it ridiculous that they have NO IDEA where my product is/when it will arrive. (ground shipping btw...never again). Anyways, I just wanted see if anyone has ever gone through the same thing im going to, and wheither i should worry about it or not.
Well thanks for readin my post and i hope to hear some feedback from you guys out there!

I'm pretty sure FedEx ain't the ones to blame, I'm also pretty sure FedEx doesn't have a clue as to when Apple will ship stuff... come to think of it, besides it's 'pret-a-porte' line of existing products, Apple ain't completely sure either!

Seriously, dunno why people like yourselves get soo worked up, waiting for new deliveries, it's like getting stresses for nothing. Just think of the number of months, years you'll have to enjoy the new machine when it eventually arrives.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I purchased mine from Amazon.com. I'm a loyal Amazon.com customer. Even if Amazon.com is a bit more expensive, I still order from them. They've never given me trouble. Delivery is usually earlier than I expect and returns are easy.

But with that said, if I feel like I'm not taken care of, I will not do any more business with Amazon.com. For me, one strike is enough. These companies should be bending backwards to make me happy.

Now what are you spouting off about?

This thread cracks me up. You guys puff up your chests and threaten to cancel business with companies because you order ground shipping and it's not in your lap within 24 hours.

I think these guys are complaining about more than that. Receiving damaged computers is something to complain about.
I wasn't referring to "these guys". I was referring to you. No where in your post do you cite "damages" - just whining about shipping. Of course you reply without quoting who or what you're replying to so who knows what you're talking about?

No luck today(as I figured), eight days and counting since ship date; by the way, it was supposed to arrive on the 17th. Tracking page hasn't updated in five days(still says it's in Memphis), I'm really getting concerned, Fedex is leaving me in the dark, even phone calls turn up nothing. I called the man yesterday and he said it would be here today; I might have it this time next week the way things are going.

Picture?

Can you post a picture of the damage? I think I have the same thing. So, is Apple replacing or Fed Ex?

Order from Apple Online, Saturday, MacBook Pro shipped Monday the 24th, and received it Tuesday the 25th via FedEx ground at 1049 AM. Shipping was free.

I've ordered two computers from Apple recently. The first was a Mac mini back in July. I ordered it at around 9am ET (6am PT) and the order was shipped out same day w/ Fedex and actually arrived the next day. I just place an order today for a refurb MBP 13" at around 9am again and it was shipped out by 4pm w/ Fedex and I have a scheduled delivery date for tomorrow. So I've had great experiences w/ Apple & Fedex so far. BTW, I live in NY.
