I have three and feed them regularly - but they are not allowed near my USB ports......
i like it.
i don't eat at my computer so the thing doesn't ever clog up worse than a little rubbing alcohol on a q-tip cleans (which you should do on any mouse). i don't like to use the mouse that much when i'm editing, but i've done rotoscoping and motion tracking with it with no problems. i keep the scroll speed way up and have it configured to use all of the buttons. i like that it's light and smooth and that it can be bumped anywhere on the top to click.
i have no problems with it except for the short cord.

yes. most of the time i wash my hands before using the computer. but i guess my hands always sweat and get kinda nasty anyway. ugg.
and we really should move to a thread about he mighty mouse.
i dont see why everyone hates it. almost impossible right click? just use control, it doesn't bother me. i hardly think about it. sure the scroll ball gunkes, but the 360* is worth it.
but on top of that, mine is wireless, and it looks so apple-ish! no wires, and pretty design. now if only apple made the new wireless keyboard with a #pad, i would buy one in a heart beat!

I don't understand the blue fog comment but I had a problem where windows would not stay put where I dropped them off. They would jump to some location they liked... Grrrr! Frustrating! I dunno why it stopped happening as I got an automatic OS upgrade at about the same time I switched to a Logicool G5 mouse. That was a year ago and it hasn't happened since. It might have been longer cuz I'm already on my second G5.

G5 is the best, im not changing it!
I loved my mighty mouse, it made scrolling the time line in final cut effortless. For some weird reason one day, it stopped scrolling down, up worked fine. So i had to replace it with a logitech revolution desktop mouse.
In regard to the original poster; I had the same problem with my new pro. I tried doing clean installs, repairing the hard drives in disk utility, but to no success! What I found out last night was that my keyboard was faulty. It thought I was pushing random buttons, I use to sit there and watch while my pro showed the desktop and then the dashboard and then...
Anyway I got my keyboard replaced and the pro is going strong! so check if it is a faulty mouse or keyboard, sure saved me losing anymore sleep

Yes I have same problem duo to this issue I bring back to apple store and exchange for the 2008 Mac pro 8core 2.8Ghz with HD2600xt, 2gb 320GB
I will suggest you exchange it if you are within 14 days,,, let they know some problem with it but not say windows problem bcz apple don't take care of windows OS if you say so,you might be charged for 10% retore fee,
I am lucky they won't charge me any penny and get $348 refunds ($2399 for 2008 mac pro 8core 2.8ghz , BTW it's education price)

well Microsoft mice are still better, on windows, when i run 3d maxs i really need to use the right click with the left at the same time, so i'm sorry apple i have to dump their mices for that problem

LOL.. Seems Apple never gets it right when it comes to mice. Guess they need more practice!
AS for the OP.. you can disable/reset/customise your mouse according to how you'd like to use it...

Yes. I only use the basic Micorosft Mouse on my Macs. Works great and I have never had one fail in ten years. Good stuff.

I got the wireless mighty mouse too, but I dont really like it. It is so damn heavy and the 360 ball gets dirty to often ! Also I noticed,you need to push the side buttons on the wireless mighty mouse much more than on the normal mighty mouse. I think apple could do it much better and I hope they will soon.. I still use it, cause it was so expensive...
