They swarm to me like flies on crap when I walk into the store.
Weird.

ahahaha i totally forgot that part of my story.

so i walk up to like 5 different people in the blue shirts who all say they can't help me because they're doing some random thing, or some are just not responding. i go to the orange shirts and they say they'll find me a blue shirt and then don't do anything. i go to a genius who says he's not here to help me. literally. that's what he said.

like 30 minutes of following the orange shirt guy around, he hooks me up with a blue shirt person to get me my computer. she says it'll take 10 minutes max to get the 4gigs of ram installed.

45 minutes later, it's finally out. i was like wow that was really cool.

i love it so much though that whole experience is kind of behind me, hence me forgetting to post it :p although this trackpad is driving me insane. i guess i'll get used to it huh?

My visits to the closest Apple Store (Lenox) have been mixed. The Genius' have been helpful in resolving my issues but the people on the floor are great at ignoring you. I even received a phone call from the Manager regarding a problem I had. The next time I needed to go an Apple Store, I drove a bit farther and went to the Perimeter Mall location and was pleasantly surprised. I was so impressed that I sent feedback on Apple's website regarding my purchase experience.

There is a certain feeling in Apple Stores, its almost Magical lol. When i went into get my MacBook Pro, i was so excited, i forgot all the foreign exchange students taking up anything with a webcam.....

You guys living in places with Apple Stores complaining make me want to take out and play the world's tiniest violin:

:D

Seriously though what is up with people who seemingly come in off the street to see who can keep the limited staff engaged in conversation the longest? While you're standing there waiting, they had ample time to discuss how to achieve world peace. It seems to be a national pass time in some European countries.

When I go to the store, I already did my research online and my decision has been made. I'm not looking for a sales person to convince me either way. When I get into the store and with my incredible power of observation I can see that others are waiting, my conversations usually go something like: "I'll take one of these and two of those, please. Credit card. Thanks, have a good one."

Congrats on the new purchase. As for the store, talk to the manager next time. It shouldn't be like that. The store here in Santa rosa is great.

I can't say I have ever had a similar experience at my local Apple Stores. I actually had an experience that was quite the opposite recently when I purchased my MBP. The first one I purchased had RAM issues. I walked into the store, and instantly, the manager (who was the first to approach me, btw) concurred that there was clearly an issue. Instead of hemming and hawing over what to do, he immediately radioed the back to bring me a new one. I was in an out in literally 3 minutes. This was New Year's Day, and the store was packed.

Sorry to hear about your experience, though.

Yeah it really depends on the manager.

It's hit or miss, but usually hit.

The three apple stores in Hawaii are usually busy. However, I do think it is absurd to force people to make "appointments" just to purchase something. I wish they had a line for the people who knew exactly what they wanted and they can just order it off to the person and they'll get it and the transaction will proceed. But you'll still have the people who have questions and what not. No perfect solution.

I remember buying my iPhone, the worker wanted to make an "appointment" before she got started. I was fine with it but I always thought what a waste of resources and time. ;)

I have to say though, the Apple employees may not be technically suave, but they do have a great ability to serve costumers and be polite and courteous.

I should note, there are 3 Apple stores in Oregon and I have bought things from each of them. Bridgeport, Washington Square, and Pioneer Square.

Genius Support -
Washington Square > Pioneer Square > Bridgeport

Buying things -
Bridgeport > Pioneer Square > Washington Square

I just kinda came up with this based on my most recent experience. Pioneer is in Portland, the other two are in Tigard/Beaverton ish area. (30-40 minutes from Portland)

I went to Washington Square because I just had a good experience there with Genius and a bad experience at Bridgeport, but shoulda realized I bought my MacBook at Bridgeport and it was so fast to buy. With the fact that I did in-store RAM upgrade I wanted to go to the better Genius store, but it was a bad decision I guess.

You poor soul. If you keep reading this site, you'll quite likely soon become dissatisfied with the bog standard 13-inch Macbook... just a warning.

Perhaps it's just me, and I'm the only one lusting after the 17-inch MBP... but I have a growing hatred of TN LCD displays, which is what all laptops have... so am seriously considering buying an HP 24-inch IPS screen (matte)... just need a good excuse! :p

Ive been on this site for at least 8 months now and every day is hell seeing all the nice Mac things. Yes I read all the complaints but the macbook is deffinatly going to do everything I want it to. The only thing I wish I could do is order the illuminated keyboard and do it myself.

You make an appointment to get something fixed, not to buy something. All I wanted was someone to go to the back room and grab a computer that I already knew I wanted for me. I think I should make an appointment if I don't know what I want, but if I do know what I want, I don't see the point in having to make an appointment for going into the store.

You must have never made an appointment then. When you log on the computer to make an appointment with a genius one of the options besides repair is "Shopping Help". Many times people want a person to help them buy everything along with their computer purchase. Sure, anyone on the floor can do that without an appointment but they do have an option for you besides making an appointment for repairs.

Hah - you think you have it bad? I live in midtown Manhattan. My Apple store is the one on 5th ave. Try getting anything done there. On the plus side, since it's within walking distance and open 24/365, I can probably make an appt for 1am and have a somewhat smooth experience.
