Since the introduction of Yosemite OS X`s readability has nosedived, nor has El Capitan made any significant difference for the better. Since 10.10 the change in system font, reduced contrast, combined with the flattening of the OS serves nothing more than to follow the pack, negatively impacting the user. If I could run Mavericks UI on all my Mac`s I would, unfortunately that`s not possible thx to Apple...

Apple should have ensured at a very minimum that readability would not be deteriorate, solely for the sake of aesthetics. a back to back comparison of El Capitan/Yosemite versus Mavericks is telling indeed, Retina or no Retina.

Someone needs to take the "Chromebook" off Jonny & Co, give them a Mac on Mavericks with some basic instructions to tidy up the UI, clean up the dock icons, reduce the skeuomorphism, above all don't break the user experience...
