Tim Cook needs to get Apple to make a simple e-ink 7" tablet. I wouldn't mind having both an iPad and an Apple e-ink reader. He can treat it like Apple TV and say it's just an experiment.

It would be great if Apple could make a 7" color tablet but have a native app that could make the screen look like an e-ink reader!

I love the BN Nook Tablet and will probably get one!

technologically impossible. that's not how e-ink works

I've got an Ipad 2 don't like the look of the new Kindle tablet but the Kindle ereader still appeals to me. Even though I have the Ipad 2 it still looks cool as a ereader only. I do read the odd book on the Ipad but it's a bit lighter and the screen seems more like a book.

Anybody else like the look of the Kindle? (Not saying I'd buy one though owning an Ipad 2)..surprised Apple don't up the advertising for the Ipad 2 a proper ereader though.

You talking Fire, or the e-Ink ones??

----------

If you have an iPad, buy the e-ink Kindle not the fire.

Nook also has eInk version, as does Sony.

If reading is your primary goal (meaning no video or productivity apps/games, etc) than a kindle is hands down the best option. They are cheap, very easy on the eyes, and the battery life is incredible.

The iPad is awesome, but as has been stated it's not the best device to read on. I have a lot of books on my iPad and I kind of regret purchasing them. I am really hung up multi-purpose devices and I thought the iPad was going to make the cut for reading, but in all honesty the kindle blows it away. You can't beat e-ink right now, it's not even up for debate.

I think the Kindle fire is an absolute piece of garbage that will go down in flames (pun definitely intended). However, the fire helped to drive down the prices on the kindle touch so now is the time to pounce if you were on the fence!

I know a lot of people feel this way, but personally, I hate the look of e-ink. It's dark grey on light grey, and the lack of contrast gives me a headache. So for me, it's not up for debate, e-ink sucks. :D

From comments I've read on this forum, some people, like yourself, swear by e-ink, others, like me, hate e-ink, and still others find that they are ok with both e-ink and backlit LCD. So I think the general discussion is far from over. Of course, if like you or me, we've made up our minds which works for us, then yes, debate over, we pick our preferred device and go our ways.
