If you want to speed things up a bit, try turning off motion and transparency in settings. It uses processor power and displays animation when shifting screens that while cute, do slow things down.

Think of it as a B12 vitamin shot for your phone. Try it and see. Can always turn back on.

I definitely love the max so if you want a bigger phone, do it. You still have 8 months before the next phone comes out, and the max is such a solid phone with excellent camera, gorgeous screen, great battery...if the size is comfortable for you. That’s the limiting factor and very personal.

No I would not upgrade an X to an XS.

Personally I wouldn't upgrade a 7 to an XS. I'd upgrade a 6S or lower.

That's the crux of the matter. I just don't know if I can live with the sheer size of the thing now that the X(s) exists...

The more I read through this thread the easier it is not to upgrade until September. I had to remind myself it’s almost February which leave us with a little over 7.5 months left until September.

Well I did it. Upgraded yesterday. Spent $500 to upgrade early and selling the X so I should making some money back. I’ll do the same in September when the X1 comes out.

First impressions are the Speakers. Not just a small upgrade but huge difference in quality. And the screen is amazing. Considering I’ll probably make $100 back I’m feeling pretty good about my decision.

You're going to upgrade again in a few months? Definitely wouldn't have bothered then, but to each their own I guess. Keep feeding that Apple greed machine...

I love my X but it does lag more and more lately and I’d like more than 64gb storage.

I might upgrade to the XI as well but just have the itch to upgrade. Curious how much of an upgrade that the Max feels like over the X.
I went from the X to the Xs Max and it was like night and day. I love the bigger screen and camera improvements. it was great upgrade for me.
If you can wait the 8 month till the next release...then wait. But if you are looking to upgrade now then it will be worth it imho.
But also know that you might get envious of all the new iPhone hype come Sept :D

I’ll gladly give them my money. Lol. Really though I have it built in my budget to always have a device payment so it’s really at no financial loss to me to have the latest and greatest.

If you were upgrading from your X to the 5.8 XS, I probably wouldn’t recommend it. But being that you’re considering the Max, the larger display alone makes a significant difference in viewing content and of course, you have the larger battery, as you mentioned, you’re not really impressed with the X battery life as it is. I say upgrade and enjoy.

Hope he likes the bigger screen of the Max enough. When I upgraded from the 6, due to little obvious improvements other than speed, etc, I went with the bigger 7+ and it was bigger than I wanted to carry everyday. So 14 months later I went with the X. (I had traditionally bought a phone every 2 years when contract renewal time came).

Who am I kidding. The itch to upgrade won’t go away until I go through with it. I just checked my finances due to the fact that I definitely will upgrade in September again. With T-Mobile if I upgrade now, I have to pay half of the XS Max off before upgrading in September. I will have a down payment and the 6 device payments I will be making from March - September will equal 1/2 of the cost of the XS Max. The only thing that worries me is will the XS Max Smart Battery Case be compatible with the 2019 XI Max? I definitely need this case as I will be a mail carrier starting next month and may have to use my phone for gps if I end up delivering mail into the night. Maybe I could just sell the case on eBay or Craigslist?

Don't bet on case fitting next Max as thickness may change slightly, or USB C etc. Buy what you need today and sell later if need be.

Congrats. How do feel about weight and screen size difference? Personally I always feel the weight is kinda off putting despite the Max feeling like an awesome ipad "mini" mini. Just not an easy one handed pull out your pocket and quick check iphone.

Good question. It depends if Apple makes any changes or not. I suspect it might be compatible, but again, it really depends.

If you decide to pursue this route, I would use Swappa over Ebay. But with Craigslist, at least you would have money in hand.

Thanks! Luckily I’ve used the plus models in the past so I’m used to that bigger size. I’ve noticed playing games on this is a lot easier. Like I wouldn’t dare play Madden on the smaller one. The only thing I will probably miss is the ease of using it one-handed in situations where I just quickly need to do something. The plus size a little bit more of a chore and you have to sometimes use it two handed but I think I’ll get used to it pretty quickly.
