Thanks a lot security deposit! :D, oh well I get it back in a year when I pay my bill on time.

....

AT&T charges 499 dollars deposit on people without social security number. You don't have a bad credit score. You must have a bad credit history like bankrupt or something like that.

I think this thread is about iphone and it is not about your bad credit score?

No they need proof you are them, so they need to see ID and such.

wrong, I worked in sales for ATT a couple years ago over the phone. We ran credit checks, took deposit payments, and shipped phones out. Same thing as the store, except obviously you dont get the phone right away :p

And yes you can call, give your social and have ATT run your credit over the phone, it takes less then 5 min. Its better then having to goto the store and do it and your results hold for 90-180 days.

Get a FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone 4 that is on sale for pre-order USA sellers on eBay for under $800. Use Bing Cash back and SAVE MORE! $799 security deposit is a bull crap route to get an iPhone 4.

No probably because I am just a kid that's 19 and AT&T doesn't want to take a chance with young adults and bill paying I guess. Not sure but I know i'm still getting it. lol

The deposit is to ensure you pay for the service, not the phone. The OP would likely pay a deposit if they were getting a dumbphone as well.
