long story short

purchased macbook waited 7 days got one opened it had scratch on it

returned in apple send second one

second one had same type of scratch (theres a thread on here somewhere)

i complain they say they will send another one (third one) this time i can keep using the second one.

ok, third one comes funnily same scratch (they all came ferom china)

i have not sent the second one back, they promised they would call after i complained a thirs time been 6 days no call therfore i have not sent the second macbook back

now what do i do?

i have two cosmetically damaged macbooks, do i call them or i will be happy to keep the extra one (most likely they will contact but until then im keeping the second one, i should after spending 2000 get a perfect one but i have not)

ill wait 2 months and sell the second one if they do not contact me

guys if i am wrong please tell me what to do i have wasted 1 month waiting for a decent macbook

Definitively don't keep the second one...not only you'll get in trouble for sure(because they have all your contact info and don't think they'll let this slide) but you're also kinda being rude IMO. The only reason they let you keep the MBP is because they trust their clients are responsible enough to send them back as soon as you get a proper replacement.

Now, i understand that after spending so much money on a machine you can only expect for it to be perfect, but i find it very hard to believe 3 out of 3 MBP all came with the same cosmetic issue. And honestly, if they did, i'd have pretty much given up the second time. One month?! I know someone who's PC spent more time in tech support than what they actually used it for (nine months wait time, to be exact...), and at the end they asked for a refund to buy a MBP.

So to me it seems like you're trying to take advantage of Apple Support...you can either keep returning them and wait two, three, four months more, but don't feel entitled to 2.000 bucks in compensation just because your came with a scratch. If you're so unhappy, just ask for your money back, instead of trying to sell machines that aren't yours to sell.

TL,DR: Yes, you're wrong, that's stealing.

Never said i didn't believe you, just that it's weird that Apple would let this slide three times, but i guess their standards have just fallen drastically. To answer your question, once again, if you're already using the second replacement, keep that one and take the 3rd one to the store again. Demand to get a machine in good conditions. If you don't live near an Apple Store, then call yourself and try to speak with whoever you originally contacted and were supposed to get back at you, that way they'll know your case. But again, don't feel like Apple owes you anything because they don't- aside from providing you with a suitable replacement. So either keep trying or ask for you money back. You don't win anything from selling that machine, believe me.

You either keep asking for replacements until you get a good unit or ask for your money back if you're so unhappy. Use it towards buying the 2016 model or wait for the 2018.

This is good advice

But mate it is a custom macbook they only come from china as they have to be made so i can only keeo ringing them then waiting 7-8 days for a replacement

Iv done that threee times

Ill be honest i dnt have time to be messing around but i will make sure i get a good one with the amount that i pay

Apple said we have escalted ur issue and i sent them proof however no phone call

Why should i keep calling?

What if i get a 4th with same scratch

Man this is annoying

I was angey i wont really sell it but im not sending it back until they call me

I dont want none of these

1) Karma's a bitch.

2) If you were going to do this, how silly to admit it online! You're bang to rights.

3) This is standard practice. Apple have your billing information. If you don't return the defective unit within two weeks of receiving the new unit, your card is charged. That's how these priority replacements work.

You got it on finance? Well then that's even worse isn't it. Say goodbye to the credit score, say hello to the bailiffs.

If they've not called yet, they're not going to. Call them. If you've had a priority replacement you are probably in touch with a Senior Adviser, in which case email them.

You're not understanding. It's the moralistic idea that somebody should do something in the right and return something knowingly that you were not permitted two MacBooks. You do can do things on your terms and I'm not here to tell you as an adult what you should do, because you know the answer to that already. But understand the ramifications for your actions with possible consequences. Think about it.

i will still be paying for one as normal?

i understand what you are saying, but this whole thing has beyond stressed me, i keep my things immaculate because i always sell them on, when apple sends me a macbook three times which has a cosmetic defect on it and the apple rep says maybe we are sending replacemnets how does that make me feel?

I think you know the answer to that and I regret joining this train wreck of a thread. Your choice is return the MacBook or let it come back to bite you.

If you Understand what I'm saying, then there should be no problem. I think you're trying to justify or reassure yourself on why you should be able to keep it, knowingly that you know you shouldn't. But again, actions have consequences.

You already know the answer but you was hoping people would respond by telling you to keep the macbooks but it has back fired on you.

well to be honest

i was only answering you question in relation to the credit score, off topic if i applied for finance for one macbook and i pay normally for that one and i have a second one which i did not apply for credit, this will not affect my credit score

back to topic i will message apple and tell them to send me a perfect one then i will send these two back i think that is fair after waiting a month with three macbooks i think its fair i can have this condition....

Regardless of how angry you may be, if you keep the other macbooks then Apple have the right to charge you for them or to cancel your finance agreement and request the return of all the macbooks. The fault is only cosmetic, not electrical or mechanical failure and as such the macbooks are perfectly OK to use.

You can be as awkward as you want but this stubbornness of yours will end in failure for you.

Check you invoice or Apple website for contact details :)

I would also send it by recorded delivery as proof

This is one of those cases where trying to get what you want is just exhaustive and you end up biting your nose off, If you really want the MBP then it may just be better to negotiate a discount or a freebie vs the hassle etc

Correspondence is good :)

I have no doubt Apple will do the right thing but crap happens and can be annoying and time wasting, there was one thread in rMB where a guy returned his MacBook 20 times lol but he may of been a bit OCD

The old days of mail order and companies forgetting to collect goods are largely long gone and its still your responsibility to tell them to pick them up etc

Having said that I once bought an add-on for our IMac that was wrong and the buyer refused to respond to return request I was compensated by my credit card company and nobody wanted the goods back

yes just emailed the manager who dealt with me a year ago i found her email address so messaged her finger crossed
[doublepost=1514510569][/doublepost]yes i just dont wat to keep the second macbook and apple contact me after 6 months saying they want it back and it isnt here...

i just want a cosmetically sound macbook that is all
[doublepost=1514510605][/doublepost]or if i can have a discount on these to keep it with a scratch i may consider that too

I recall warning you in a previous thread you posted that this is a very widespread problem (marks below the speaker grills, right?) on this model of MacBook and you’d be extremely lucky to find one without. Realistically it’s a very, very trivial issue so I’d just pick one of the computers to keep and send the other one back (Apple will have a record of you having two and will bill you for the second if you keep it). It might help if you think about it as something that’s on more or less every unit not just the one you have - and you’ve now seen that first hand.

i have just messaged the manager that works there so i have told them what problem i have, i understand it is trivial, but tbh i do not want a a mark on it after spending 2000

also in the apple store i have checked they do not have marked scratches........
