I'm hoping for a Magsafe connector so that the device doesn't go flying if the cable is accidentally knocked.

That would be great but I don't think the iPhone is heavy enough to stop it from moving when you pull the cable. Unless the cable can be really easily removed from the port which would be worse cause it'll get unplugged too often and unintentionally.

Ot at least someone comes out with a good adapter. I just spent $400 on Audyssey speakers and all of my other accessories use the 30 pin connector.

if they don't i'm sure there will be some sort of extension / adapter to connect it to a new connection.

And they will see for a hefty price lol

never understood the reason for them not to use the micro usb standard to begin with. so I hope they hop on that if they are going to shrink it.

Let's be honest. The 30 pin has been around for over a decade. How many changes has USB gone through in that time? There was standard, then there was mini, now there is micro. I am generally against proprietary cables and ports, but Apple has become so well-known, it really is a non-issue in this case, I think. I literally don't know anyone that doesn't have one of these cables somewhere, whether they are currently using an idevice daily or not.
