I can see where he is coming from. He did you a favor by exposing you to the harsh reality that is OS X and learning a new OS. I didn't know about Mac Rumors when I got my first Mac, but like most people I knew my way around a wintel box. I grabbed a few OS X books and can now administer OS X on an inner-os level. Sure thats not everyones cup of tea, but you flaunt your 'skilla' as a dev, and I would expect someone with your level of knowledge and understanding of systems to appreciate the painstaking process of a new OS. But the other guy could have helped you out a tad 😉.
That said, its alarming how many users come in and say, "I just bought a Macbook ____. LEARN ME!" And refuse to surf the manual, Google, MRoogle, ask the local genii or anything. If anyone asks a question and I can take the five seconds to pull up a PDF of the manual, i'll actually cite it with page numbers. Infact, its kind of sad with the lack of power users in this particular community. Everyone seems to be a pro videographer, photographer and music producer but don't really know why they bought a macbook.
