Don't worry. WP7 is no threat to anyone. It will fail just like every other major Microsoft endeavor not named "Windows" or "Office." ;)

WP7 isn't even a worthy competitor to Android 2.1. :D

I guess the 'W' part of WP7 means something other than 'Windows'?

Are you saying that it's gonna take over the mobile computing world?

Edit: preservation

I'm not a fan of Microsoft. But the more I see the UI, the more I realize it looks pretty good considering this is a complete reboot. The touchscreen is very responsive and fast. Animated transitions feels slicker on WP7 than Android.

I'll give it a year or two until they work out all the bugs and add more features via updates. It isn't bad for a reboot 1.0.

Just because the internet is anonymous it doesn't mean you have to be a wise acre. The above could have been stated without sarcasm and demeaning nouns. So I guess William thinks the bigger screen is what makes it "worth it" and Steve has 12 (still unknown) things that the iPad does better and thinks I can't ask a question without owning the device.

An answer with supporting anecdotal or factual evidence would be much more appreciated. I haven't knocked the iPad or either of your decisions to get one so the question is... "Who pissed in your Cheerios?"

Reef,

Please allow yourself to jump over to the iPad forum and you'll find all the answers you need. I highly doubt the mods would approve of me highjacking this iPhone thread to prove my point. Also, you made a statement first- so no you can't do that before owning one. And there wasnt piss in my cheerios, just on the toilet seat this morning, so perhaps I'm a little sour about that.

Along with those massive fails like 'Xbox Live, Xbox 360, and Kinect'

Competition is good. Just look at the lackluster iPad, you can guarantee that the second revision will be that much better because of competition. Same goes with the iPhone. :apple:

I see what you did there.

Windows 7 - too late to market. Won't be an abject failure like WebOS, but it's going to play second fiddle to Android and Apple. Like Blackberry, it is going to appeal to corporate users mainly.

People who say tablets will replace notebooks are delusional. Has anyone here actually had a job? I think anyone who does would realize an iPad is a joke when it comes to doing real work. The lack of keyboard and lack of powerful applications are reason enough to see that the iPad will not replace traditional notebook anytime soon.

I don't mean to go back in time but the reason the first Macintosh(Lisa) was such a colossal failure was because it didn't have any "killer app" at the time.

Even for college I remember my classmate buying an iPad thinking it was going to replace his MacBook. After a week he quickly went back to his laptop for simple things such note taking, wrtiting papers, and notes in PowerPoint slides.

I think the iPad is a great media device for light usage but when it comes to serious work it's not even close.

As of 2/1/2011 Windows phone 7 is basically dead. RIP. Actually, eff that. I'm glad it's dead and don't want it to move on peacefully. MS brought this upon themselves. Apple saw an opp that mobile was the future and very important, MS ignored it. Apple re-defined the smartphone. The blackberry-esque (at the time) 'android' platform went back to the drawing board and was heavily influenced by the iphone. Fanboys need not apply. This is fact. Winmo7 only has die hard microshaft ecksbawks fanboys to support it and deny it's death. Too bad, it's dead. Deal with it.

Why do you say that. Sales seems to be decent, developers are very enthusiastic with the SDK. Number of apps are increasing. Microsoft is dedicated behind the platform.

While the sales numbers are are not anywhere near the iPhone's, they do appear to be solid.

I'm not sold on the UI, but the OS has garnered positive reviews, basically taking the good things from iOS and android and casting aside many of the negative aspects. Its still a work in progress but MS has produced a great foundation to build upon
