Congrats!

I just bought a unibody macbook today for $700 off Craigslist.

That sucks, and by that I mean it sucks for the poor sucker who sold it to you. Please tell me it wasn't a maxed-out 2.4 with 4 GB RAM...if so, the seller sure got screwed! :D Super awesome for the OP anyways...enjoy!

*goes to Craigslist hoping to find a legit, fully-loaded latest-rev. 8-core Mac Pro for $1,999*

:D

This is my first Mac product of any kind and I'm glad I was able to get one for an awesome deal.

I'm a hardcore PC fan and I love to game, but after using this Macbook for about 2hrs now, I've never felt a computer of so much quality.

This computer is a total joy, it's night and day compared to PC. The main reason I got it was because I'm getting into graphic design.

I've been surfing this forum since September of last year, laughing at some of the posts of Mac fanboys. Some of the comments about PC's are still ridiculous but I'm truly a believer now.

Since I love to game, I'll just buy a PS3 and Xbox 360. They have all the games anyways.:p

I give my uMB two thumbs up.

I will become a regular here now for news, support and tips.
do you happen to live in los angeles?

no not mine, but a friend of mine's got his jacked not too long ago near his school.
not asking you b/c i want it back (obviously), but might be helpful if i could get info on the seller.

OH SNAP!! This is going to turn into some crazy dramatic soap opera!

I can see the title now... "Macbook of our Lives"... Starring World Exclusive, handydandy, handydandy's friend, illusive "seller" aka THE THIEF, and Macbook

btw you inspired me. I went on craigslist and found mb aluminums and made 700$ offers.

So far the response is not good :p

guess it works much better in person, cash in hand.

Here is one of the responses

"You are insane. Have a good day.
Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry"

This made my day for the next two weeks :D hahahhahahha

I suspect the OP will have no interest in investigating whether or not his MacBook is legit or stolen. If it turns out to be stolen, he'll have to give it up and of course he'd lose is $700.

Not saying it's right, but just sayin'....

Hopefully, he'll never have to take it in for service, though, since a quick run of serial numbers could potentially get the OP in some trouble.

Yep, my mother's boyfriend had his car stolen. He claimed insurance, end of story for him. The thieves sold it for a couple of grand, the car was found in possession of the man who bought it and the car was taken back by the insurance company. The man lost A) a couple of grands worth of money and B) a rather lovely car.

Be very careful...

I think a 2.0 unibody which can be purchased new (refurbished) with a 1 year warranty for 1.1k means a used one with no warranty should be worth 800

How is there no warranty on a machine that was released in October of 2008. There has to be at least another 5 months left.

If it's stolen from a store (and they record their SN's), yes he could get in trouble.

If it was stolen from another person, then no he can't get in trouble. Why? Because I could sell you my MacBook and say you stole it, keep your $1000 and then get it back from Apple.

Which is why I never buy from other people, only manufacturers. But then again, I am a pretty cynical person.

If there was any way of knowing whether it was stolen I would take those routes first, otherwise congratulations!
