Hacking satellite cards used to be easy and last I recall directv stopped that stuff hardcore..... I don't know if it is still the case. But to me I bet apple could kill jb if they devoted the time and money.... (or make it so annoying most casuals like me would quit)

Exactly! I'm not sure why so many people are arguing....simple fact, if Apple want to stop jailbreaking once and for all, they will. No bs work arounds, no excuses, its entirely possible so just enjoy what we have and stop worrying about what may never be implemented :p

Simple fact, except for the part where you are wrong. They could TRY to stop jailbreaking, but they can't stop it. I think you don't have a great concept of how jailbreaking occurs. Millions of lines of code = millions of lines to exploit. It's that simple, and that's the simple fact.

The Answer is NO, they cannot stop it That's why people keep arguing. DirectV is as easy (actually is easier now) to hack as it was before if you Know where to look. (all they did was to stop "casual" hackers) - as i said on my previous post.

Come on this is Apple we're talking about. They are master at slow boating features and hardware(components not hardware design) on about everything that they do and yet we are still on board with them. Its a trap that they are so good at doing it keeps us interested and always on our feet about what they will be doing next. If Apple give us everything that we want now all one slam dunk..then Apple is just obsoleting themselves for future interests.

Bingo.

You're welcome, you should check out some of my other threads.

But it is true. Apple could stop all jailbreaks with mandatory OTA firmware updates, firmware expiration lockouts that are hardware based, enforcing the date signed part of the SHSH blobs, making old versions of iTunes cease to work until updated, and they could brick old iDevices that can't run the latest versions.

Of course all of this is theoretical and will probably never happen, with the exception of the enforcing of the date signed SHSH blobs.

you really need to give it up, man. Apple can't stop hackers once and for all or they would. There would be a way around every single thing you listed, and people would surely do it.

But really, that wouldn't benefit apple at all. They already get too much bad press for being the antithesis of their 1984 commercial as it is. They're concerned about pushing units here. Those kinds of crazy things you came up with would only complicate things for apple and cut into their profit margins. If you didn't know, apple still makes tons of money from jailbroken devices.

I'm sure they've calculated the cost/benefit of keeping things super ultra locked down and gone with the obvious choice.

So no, apple couldn't stop jailbreaking completely. Ever. There's also no reason to go that far. We won't see it, and we don't have to thank apple for that, we have the iphone dev team.

LOL, he keeps getting funnier the more you listen.
